"what?!" he snapped taking in my glare. i crossed my arms over my chest my glare deepening. Man if looks could kill, Darien would be one steaming pile of cow crap! "its a wonder people are always trying to kill you." i growled. He took a step closer to me, anger flashing in his eyes. "I never asked for your help. i was doing just fine on my own." he said with disgust, like i had been nothing but a pest who happened to crawl into his path just as he was walking by.

i felt my anger rising, my mind forgetting all about the gun he still held in his hand. "Sure, i've seen you 'handle' yourself, and trust me without my help, you would have died back there!" i snapped stepping closer till i had to tilt my head back just to see his face. his whole body was rigid with anger, his hands turning white from being fisted for too long.

“you don’t know anything, and you don’t know me. I could kill you right now and still be able to sleep like a baby.” he sneered leaning over me to try and intimidate me. trust me when i tell you it was starting to work. the look of pure hatred and anger in his eyes and the way he held himself all told me he meant every word he said.

“who are you?” I asked in disbelief, leaning back so there was more space in between us. He undid the first button of his dress shirt, turning on the spot so his back was facing me. He tilted his head forward revealing the skin of his neck. There illuminated by the street lamp was an intricate tattoo, consisting of dark lines and swirling figures. I stared at it for a minute, the shape was oddly familiar like i had seen it somewhere else before.

then it dawned on me. I gasped, automatically taking a step back. He was part of Vasseli's Crypt, one of the largest mafia gangs in southern L.A. Darien turned around then his face pulled up into a smug look of satisfaction. "glad to know that all of us are now on the same page." i shook my head in disbelief, wondering if the swirling tattoo i had seen was real. "impossible" i mumbled softly, my eyes wandering past darien to the men who were lying now dead on the ground.

"a-are those-" "Scorsayzy’s men? yes. who's hench men you just helped me kill, by the way." he added voice lacking any emotion. i looked back to darien my eyes wide. "i-i didn't kill tho-"

"do you think Scorsayzy is going to care about what you did and didn't do when he finds out that you helped a memeber of his rival gang? just by talking to me puts you in danger, and on Scorsayzy's hit list. You're as good as dead now." he muttered looking me up and down like i was already in a body bag.

"b-but he doesn't know what happened! How is he going to find out about me ever being here?!" Darien let out a small chortle. "You think those men were the only ones he sent?" he asked pointing back at the bodies. "He sends others, watchers, who make sure the deed is done. I bet you right now, his men probably already have your home adress and every single piece of transaction you've ever made since the time you took your first breath!"

i took a step back, feeling a sense of dread fill me. the mafia was always known for infiltrating the police forces, and even higher than that. I couldn't help but look around, my eyes scanning the streets wondering if i would catch a glimpse of the people who would be the death of me. A movement out of the corner of my caught my attention. i looked back at darien, only to see him with his gun raised. i flinched shutting my eyes quickly. "you going to kill me?" i whispered, waiting for his answer or the sound of the explosion as the bullet left the barrel of the gun.

"i don't have to" he whispered, holstering his gun into the pocket, strapped to his hip. He turned on his heel and walked straight to a black range rover. He hopped in, starting the car and stepping on the gas tires squealing on the ashphalt. His car disappeared around a row of houses and small stores before i could even blink.
