Darien's POV

I had left for two goddamn minutes and the freaking world practically ended. You can imagine my surprise when i come back from the bathroom to find Caleb Williams sitting in my seat, talking to Salara as if it were nothing at all, nearly gave me a heart attack.

The hairs were standing up on the back of my neck, and my hands were just itching to grab for the gun resting against my ribs, just so i could get Salara away from him. Caleb was someone even Scorsazy feared. You don't get that kind of reputation without cause and Caleb had definitly earned it.

For one, Caleb is Xanders second in command and the man to go to if you need answers. Caleb always had a talent...well more like an obsession for torture. No matter who ther person was, if you needed to know something. Caleb could get the answer.

People i've come across have told me stories about Caleb and lets say even i, who have done my fair share of torturing, could never compare to the stories i've heard of Caleb.

They said there was no method to his style and that he was ruthless and relentless. Sometimes even going so far that the person he was trying to get the information from ended up going either completely insane or died part way through.

As I drive us back to the mansion i can't help but feel slightly troubled at what Caleb's visit might possibly mean or hold for both Salara and I in the future. I shift my gaze to her my eyes locking onto the light blue tinge appearing on her wrist where he had grabbed onto her, keeping her at the table against her will.

I flexed my jaw trying to hold back the string of profanities i wanted to let loose as i was only reminded of how close she had gotten to Caleb. That thought made me grip onto the steering wheel so hard that my knuckles had turned white from the strain of my grip.

If he had hurt her in any way i don't think i would have been able to restrain myself from putting a bullet in his head. Whether if it was in front of a police precinct or in front of a room filled with potential eyewitnesses. i realized I wouldn't have cared, i liked Salara. More than i might have cared to admit.

By the time we had reached the mansion i had realized i had forgotten to remind Salara of the black hoodie. I sighed knowing that it was already to late, besides the fact that she had been staring at me through out the whole drive might have proven helpful.

I climbed out of the car when i had parked it in the garage. Gently shaking out my hands from all the little pin pricks i was feeling from the lack of blood flow, seemed to blend in with the rest of the way my body was feeling.

Salara seemed to have been in a daze because when she realized i was no longer sitting in the car she jumped in her seat, shaking her head as if she had been  thinking about something. She clambered out of the car shutting it behind her before moving to my side and following me back to the room without so much as a word.

I stopped when we passed my sisters bedroom, my brow furrowing as i thought about something. I rapped my knuckle on the hard wood three times before opening the door slightly. "hey evelyn! come to my room. there's something i need to talk to you about." i called stiffly, before closing the door.

I knew she heard me and i also knew that it wouldn't take her long to show up either. Considering i usually don't use her full name unless i'm angry with her or if something's bothering me. Salara watched me carefully as i rejoined her, walking the last couple of doors down before we arrived at our bedroom.

We slipped inside closing the door gently behind us. i undid the first few buttons of my shirt as i propped myself up on the edge of the bed, rubbing a tired hand over my face and into my hair. Once again i could feel Salara watching me carefully, waiting patiently for me to tell her what exactly happened back at the restaurant.

"Darien..." she whispered in a soft voice, almost sounding tentative and cautious. Like she was testing the waters before she decided to do a cannonball off the great Canyon. just then my bedroom door opened and in slipped Evelyn.

"what happened?" she asked immediately having definitely picked up on my use of her full name. "Caleb." i muttered into my hands still keeping my gaze on the floor. I heard her sharp intake of breath.  "How in the world did you guys come in contact with Caleb?" she hissed her voice on edge.

"he showed up at the restaurant. I found him speaking to Salara when i had left to go to the loo." i mumbled standing up and running a hand through my hair once more. "well what did he want?" At this moment i shifted my gaze to Salara. "We don't know. When i had come back i only caught him asking her questions about us."

"What exactly did he ask you Salara?" Evelyn turned stepping closer to her til she was practically towering over Salara. "H-He just wanted to know why Darien had suddenly taken such an interest in me, when i was practically worthless to him." she mumbled softly her eyes wide.
