did darien just call me his GIRLFRIEND?! i swear my eyes nearly popped out of my head and my jaw was lying on the floor.
"You have a girlfriend?" his father repeated in shock, shaking his head slightly. at least i wasn't the only one who was shocked to hear about this. "yes...i have a girlfriend." darien assured forcing a smile, while wrapping his arm around my shoulder and pulling me into his side.
"Since when?" he asked still wearing that confused expression. "Its been a...few months already." He mumbled sheepishly. I felt my glare deepen. despite darien's badass character and ties to the mafia he was really bad at improvising.
Dariens father turned to the men still standing with their weapons drawn and motioned for them to leave. "False alarm boys, go back to your posts." he mumbled running a hand over his face. When dariens bedroom doors closed leaving the 3 of us alone, the awkward silence began to set in. I tried to pull away from Dariens arm but he just held on, infact i felt him bring me closer to him, if that were even possible.
"please just play along." he whispered shooting me a pleading look. i shot him a scowl before looking off in another direction. i knew that if i kept looking at darien that i would say something that could either get me killed or the both of us killed.
"When were you planning on telling me?" Dariens father muttered giving darien a look i didn't quite understand. I felt darien sigh beside me, his shoulders slumping slightly. "You had more important things to worry about than my love life father. And i also thought that it would be of no concern to you" he said respectfully.
"It is my concern Darien." his father sighed giving darien a cold look. "You know i want you to get married. Instead of this- fooling around!" he shouted his face beginning to flush with anger. Darien stiffened beside me. "oh like you married mother!" he shouted dropping his arm from around my shoulders.
"that was different and you know it! I was getting older and marriage was out of the context." he growled, taking a step closer to Darien. "bullshit!" darien snapped glaring at his father. "you didn't want to commit! even though she was an escort and you loved her!"
"i did not love her! she was a bitch and whore!" his father roared in digust. "once a bitch ALWAYS a bitch! she was untrustworthy and knew to much! she had to be dealt with!"
"so you shot her in the head and dumped her into an alley!?" Darien cried motioning angrily with his hands. "What would you have wanted me to have done?! keep her around so she could have us all arrested for the crimes we have all commited?"
"NO! i wanted you to show some remorse! some humanity! she was my mother for christ sake!"
"and you are MY SON! i will not be lectured by you or anyone else in my own house, with matters that do not concern you!" with that dariens father turned on his heel to leave.
"you are not my father." darien spat glaring at his fathers back with the most hatred i had ever seen. "my father would have cared." His father moved so fast that darien didn't have enough time to react before his father pistol whipped him twice across the face. Darien fell back in surprise his body hitting the carpeted floor with a loud thud. I was in complete shock and was rooted to the spot, unable to move. how could he do that to his own son? to his own flesh and blood?!
"speak to me like that again-" he threatened grabbing hold of dariens shirt and lifting him up so he was only a few centimeters from his fathers. "and i'll bury you and your girlfriend." he glared shoving darien back into the ground.
"you are my son, darien. and you will do as i say. You fuck with me, and i swear you're gonna wish you were never born." with that he left, leaving me still standing there in shock and darien lying on the floor.
