I screamed feeling myself becoming weightless and i knew that the fall from the window would definitly kill me. I squeezed my eyes tight waiting for the feel of my body hitting the ground. But the feeling of weightlessness had left me. I peeked my eyes open and saw that Darien was holding onto the collar of my shirt. He grunted pulling me up just by my shirt that i could feel was beginning to rip.
He could feel me slipping and knew that if he didn't act fast his attempt to save mylife would have been useless. He leaned back steadying himself on the window pane and pulled, using his body as an anchor. when i was not hanging over the ground, he gave one finally pull and yanked me back over the ledge, barrelling me into his chest.
I collapsed my hands gripping onto him to steady myself. I was never good with heights. This just increased my reason why. When my knees had stopped knocking together and Darien had shaken himself out of his shock and surprise, the storm came.
"jesus christ!" he shouted shoving me away from him, nearly causing me to fall back out the window. "is there anything you do that hasn't caused yourself or anyone else for that matter a damn near death experience?!" he motioned to the open window. "If your little stunt didn't already alert half of the guys that work for my father or my father himself, it would be a bloody miracle!" he growled running a hand roughly over his face.
"HEY! i was doing fine until you came along! Everytime i'm around you something goes wrong and i nearly end up dead!"
"of course." he snapped glaring at me. "blame it on the mafia because its easier. like i haven't heard that one before." he growled his hands fisting at his sides. Suddenly the doors to Darien's room slammed open letting in a wave of 5 or 6 guys carrying small pistols and machine guns.
I jumped in surprise and moved my whole body behind Dariens without even thinking about what i was doing. He raised his hands to the guys who were slowly lowering their weapons. "WHAT HAPPENED HERE?!" a loud burly man shouted stepping in between two guys that were holding large shotguns.
"father!" Darien half shouted his eyes wideing in surprise. i couldn't help but peek over Dariens large shoulder. I was actually slightly intrigued about what his father looked like. My eyes nearly bugged out of my head as i took in the man before us.
He looked more like a buisness man than a criminal. He wore a Steel grey suit that seemed to wrap around his large protruding stomach. The fabric hugging him perfectly, not one part of it to tight or to large. He wore a golden paysley tie that almost seemed to shimmer as if it were made of real gold. His salt and pepper hair lay closely cropped to his head that continued past his ears connecting to a well kept, perfectly trimmed beard.
The mans cool grey eyes locked onton mine hiding behind Darien. "who is the young lady?" he asked frowning as he tried to make me out. i ducted behind Darien the mans gaze was seriously intimidating. The way he held himself reminded me alot of how Darien presented himself but his father out fetched him more than Darien ever could.
Darien turned his eyes latching onto mine. He looked slightly surprised almost as if he had forgotten that i was even in the room. He worked his jaw in a tense circle. I could practically hear the gears in his head turning as he pulled at strings trying to get an answer.
"well she's....she's-" his father cocked an eyebrow staring and Darien with an annoyed expression. Darien cleared his throat, giving me a once over before he pursed his lips. "Well she's my...she's my girlfriend." GIRLFRIEND? WHAT????!
