We both looked up at the same time. I felt myself flush when i saw Darien's dad looking down at the two of us tangled together on the floor. Darien swiftly got off of me in one movement while shooting me a warning glance to keep my mouth shut. i shot him a scowl that his father couldn't see. He leaned down and helped me to my feet his arm winding around my waist, pulling me into his side.
"we have our moments." Darien said forcing a smile. Victor shifted his gaze to me looking me up and down. I couldn't help but lean in closer to Darien. This guy was really scary! yeesh! "so when do you decide to wed?" his father asked as if the question was a usual conversation. I felt darien freeze beside me, his arm getting abnorally tight around my waist making it harder for me to breathe.
"we weren't thinking about marriage." i blurted out.
darien seemed to unfreeze, and he looked down at me, his eyes giving me a silent warning. i turned to smile at victor who seemed to be scrutinizing me slowly, "is that so?" he asked in a gruff voice his eyes narrowing. "well, yeah, i mean...it's obviously too soon, i mean... i've only just been introduced to you only a few hours ago." i feebily tried to explain, my mind racing for a logical answer.
a mischevious smile, spread across his face. "nonesense. you both said you guys were in love. darien is dew to take my company into his own hands pretty soon, and i will not have him do so, unless he bears a son."
this time i almost lost it. "a son?" i asked in disbelief. victor let out a chuckle. "yes. is there a problem with that?" he asked cocking an eyebrow. i opened my mouth to say something but Darien jumped in before i even had a chance. "No! there isn't." he muttered his voice strained. "good. You have 6 months to tie the knot. after that i will intervene myself." Victor threatened turning on his heel and leaving the two of us standing there with our mouths hanging open.
When the door closed behind him, i jerked out of Dariens grasp. "Now look what you've done!" i shouted. "I will not marry you!" i growled. Darien shot me a glare. "Like i want to marry you!?" he snapped shaking his head in mild disgust.
"I am not staying here! i'm leaving!" with that i turned and stomped over to the door. I felt him grab me from behind and push me back up against the door making me gasp in surprise. "you're not going anywhere" he snapped glaring down at me.
"FUCK YOU!" i shouted hitting his chest with my hand. "keep your voice down." he said in a hard voice. "I WILL NOT KEEP MY VOICE DOWN!" i shouted again, moving to get into his face. "lower your voice, or otherwise i will have to do it for you." he threatened, moving forward so he towered over me.
"FUCK YOU!" i shouted again. darien grabbed my hands, pinning them behind my back, before he roughly placed a hand over my mouth. i let out a muffled scream, trying to get loose. he shook me slightly. "stop sturggling and i'll let you go." he mumured into my ear. i rammed my elbow into his stomach, causing him to grunt slightly. his hold loosened alittle bit, but only a little bit before he had gained control again.
i struggled harder, trying to shake off his hands. "fine." he growled. he wrestled me onto the bed, where he pinned my arms above my head. his hand once again covering my mouth. i went limp slightly cause my arms were burning."are you done yet?" he asked, giving me an even look.
i glared, biting my teeth down onto his hand. he cursed, shaking me off. i manouvered my leg between us, pressing my knee into his chest, trying to lift him off of me. he grunted, trying to keep a hold of me. i managed to slip my hand out of his grasp where i punched him in the stomach.
he hissed in pain, before i saw him reach for something in his coat jacket. before i had time to react, darien had pulled his gun from its holster. the cool metal of the weapon, pressing to my temple. "stop fighting!" he growled, again, this time moving the gun, under my chin. i didn't move, not showing any signs fo giving up.
"what are you gonna do?" i asked, my throat alittle rough from the screaming. "kill me?" i asked, raising my face alittle. "what are you waiting for? do it." i whispered, looking him levelly in the eye. "do it." i pressed again. he cocked the gun, pressing it harder into my neck.
"if i wanted you dead five minutes ago, you would have died five minutes ago. remember that." he said in a cold voice, before he pulled his gun away, and placed it back at his side, inside its holster. he got off of me, shaking his hand slightly, before he disappeared in the bathroom. the sound of running water went off. i got up off the bed, feeling slightly unsure of what just happened.
i saw it in his eyes that he wanted to pull the trigger but he didn't. i walked to the bathroom. darien was bent over the sink, the water running over the bite mark, now bleeding on his hand. "why didn't you pull the trigger?" i demanded my voice hard. he shut the water, his hand going for the towel beside him. he wrapped it around his hand, his left hand fumbling to make a knot.
i sighed, moving around him, where i got the towel and tied a quick knot, my finger tightening it hard, making him wince. "why didn't you pull the trigger?" i asked again, this time looking him straight in the eye. he stayed quiet, his eyes trained on me, his gaze just as calculating as his fathers. "because i could tell you didn't want to die." he replied.
i watched in silent shock as he strode past me, back to the bedroom, where he gingerly pulled off his shirt. "and plus, i need your help. i can't do this thing by myself." "i'm to young for this!" i growled. "i didn't as for any of this either!"
"hey, this is no more than a walk in the park for me than it is for you" he snapped, his eyes hard. i shook my head looking off anywhere else except at him. "Look." he sighed closing his eyes and pinching the bridge of his nose. "I am sorry. I'm sorry i got you into all this mess, but if we don't go through with this than we're both dead."
"so that's it?" i whispered. "we get married and then what? i get pregnant and spend the rest of my life locked up in here!?" he looked at me sadly. "after we're married you would be allowed to move around freely."
"freely? you call this freedom? you know this might sound dumb to you but i wanted to get married on my own terms! not someone elses! and certainly not to a guy i know nothing about except from what i've seen on t.v." i shouted feeling my eyes beginning to burn.
"you don't think i never wanted that?" he looked at me slightly hurt. "I want to have a family of my own too, but my line of work doesn't really attract the right type of people now does it?" he said with a little venom leaking into his voice. "you see this here!" he motioned to everything in his room and to the guns at his hips. "this was all my life was ever going to be. i never had a choice of what school i wanted to go to or what career i wanted to pursue. Don't think that you are the only one who isn't free in this situation, because your not." with that he pushed past me and left the room, slamming the door behind him with a little more force than necessary.
