Sota-sensei sent the others off because they had to meet their teams today and we made our way down the mountain and to the hospital. The journey down was much quicker and Sota-sensei decided to carry me piggyback style to make it easier on me, although I insisted I didn't need help. We arrive at the hospital much faster than I anticipated, and Rin and I are sent off in a room with a nurse who checks out our injuries.
I lay on my stomach in the hospital bed, nearly my entire torso covered in bandages along with the upper part of my left arm and my head wrapped as well. My left ankle was wrapped too and I was told to stay off it until my next healing session and then I could go home. I have my arms wrapped around the pillow and am propping myself up.
Rin is in the bed beside me, the cut on her cheek was healed completely and her hospital shirt covered her bandages from the burns on her side.
A knock on the door brings my attention to it.
"Come in," I say, twisting my body to look at the door, wincing. I was in hospital clothes now too, with my old outfit in a bag by the bed, all fishy and bloodstained ruins of it. Rin has hers on her side table too. In walks the guys of Team Sota and the Hokage. "Hey guys, come to rescue us out of here?" I giggle.
"Oh no, you're staying here until the nurse releases you." Rin scolds, waving her pointer finger at me from her position on her hospital bed.
"Hmph." I turn my head away childishly, pouting.
"I brought you both a fruit basket! We both pitched in for it." Taro bounces into my vision, setting a basket with fruit in it at my side.
"Ooo." I smile broadly, reaching over and grabbing an orange out of it.
"It's nice to see you are in good spirits, Rei." the Hokage says.
I hum and sit up and turn to face them, sitting criss-cross applesauce, stretching my arms out in front of me as I wince. "Well, someones got to be, might as well be me." I giggle. My back burns a bit as it rubs against the bandages when I move, so I sit as straight as possible, with my hands in my lap, peeling the orange. "This isn't a social visit though, is it."
"I'm afraid not, my child." He says grimly. I pat the sides of my bed and Taro sits beside me, and Rin comes over and sits on the other side of me.
Sota-sensei goes on to explain the labyrinth and everything that happened while we sat there, listening. I could tell Rin is unnerved as she shifts in her spot beside me, so I offer her an orange slice and she takes it with a grateful smile.
Taro's just upset that someone tried to hijack our test.
"So what happened on your end of things?" Sota-sensei asks.
Rin starts first. "Well, I was wandering through the maze, and I came across what I thought was Rei and Taro, but their eyes flashed gold and they started to attack me. I fought with them for a bit, and after I killed one it melted into mud, and then the other got me in a Genjutsu. I was able to get out of it but when I did she was gone."
Then Taro, "Same here, but it was Rei and Rin and I didn't get the chance to kill either one before I was put in a Genjutsu. I only snapped out of it when the real Rei found and released me."
Then they looked at me as I finished my orange, gathering up the peel and tossing it into a trash basket by the bed. "I had to fight and kill both of mine. Rin and Taro, obviously. Anyway, they never even attempted to put me under a Genjutsu. At first, I thought it was part of the test, and then I was pinned to the wall and almost became a Rei ka-bob. That's when I started having doubts but with no way to confirm, I figured my best bet was to find the real Rin and Taro and skedaddle out of there. Found Taro first, he was in the Genjutsu so I got him out, then after a while, we ran into Rin, and then we got out, and then when we were about to set up camp the labyrinth fell."
