A/N Thought about it for a while, personally I wouldn't want to wait a few days to read on, so here ya go.
"You broke it."
"What?"
"You broke the game."
"I'm sorry?"
"No, you're not. You did it on purpose."
"Well- yeah, but no. I didn't think that would happen."
"What did you think would happen?! You died! Again! Twice! And on top of that you took, not one, not two, but three Major Potions immediately after being resurrected twice. What the hell were you thinking?"
"I was thinking, 'I need to save my teammates'."
"Well. Good job. You did. And now you're dead for the third time in ten minutes."
Here I sit, for the second time in my existence, in Limbo. Dark gray wooden flooring, dusty blue walls, white ceiling, gray couch and armchair with navy and white accent pillows, a glass coffee table in the middle with a navy and white rug underneath. The ceiling fan is off, the warm lights in the center of it are on. Along with the same black wooden bookshelf, was another bookshelf, also black. This one has one row completed along with half a row underneath it, with the rest of it being empty.
I didn't get the chance to sit on the couch last time I was here, but now that I am I can't say I'm disappointed. The cushion is comfy, the room is warm, inviting, and it smells like butterscotch. The same soundwave line from before is hovering on the other side of the coffee table while I sit in the middle of the two-seater, shoulders raised, thumbs twiddling, and legs pulled up.
An audible tired sigh moves the sound waves.
"...Rei.."
"Wake up, please..."
"..-need you.."
Different voices faded in and out from around the room with no notable origin.
"So... What now?"
"What now? You break your system and you ask 'what now?' I'll tell you what now. Now I gotta somehow explain to the big boss that one of my charges died three times in ten minutes and somehow still lived."
"So, I'm still alive," I stated, eyes wandering the room, a habit I have always had, but one that has been more prominent in recent years.
"Technically, it's a possibility."
"If I'm alive, why am I here? I thought I only came here if I died-"
"You did die! Three times!"
"-for good."
Another long sigh. "The world you went to has some interesting medical tactics, to say the least."
I nod my head, the world I went to was indeed interesting, medical tactics weren't the only thing that fell in that column.
"You did die, but they were operating on you. So while your soul was brought here, they brought your body back, more specifically they made your heartbeat again. Your body is just that, a body. It's like a computer in sleep mode until you move the mouse- or in this case, return your soul."
I nod again, taking in the information. I decide not to say anything, waiting for it to continue, knowing it has my fate in its hands.
"Do you want to go back?"
"I get to choose?"
"Well, your heart is beating and you have a vessel to return to, and you still have a storyline to complete, but since your soul is here you could choose another path, be reborn somewhere else, move into a different afterlife, you could virtually go wherever and be whatever, with whoever.
