Brianna slept in the arms of Adrian smiling, her sleep like that of babies without worries. Funny how her once upon a time gloom of a life was now filled with so much happiness she didn't know what to do with it.
In the last two weeks after she and Adrian made up and made love, he'd slept in her house every night and drove her to school everyday, making Brianna incapable of remembering her worries, or her mom. They'd planned to visit Adrians home town and Brianna knew of only one reason why. They were to go and bring back Kevin, Adrian also wanted to officially introduce her to his mom. He wanted his two favorite women to get acquainted. Adrian's mom has been dying to meet Brianna, compelling Adrian to bring her as soon as possible.
Brie had gotten so used to waking up in Adrian's arms that when she woke up that morning and he wasn't in bed with her she started to panic. She rushed out of bed, screaming his name at the top of her lungs, fear etched in every sound. Relief washed over her features as he ran inside the room, boxers his only cover to his deliciously manly frame.
"Hey, you okay?"
She hugged the life out of him, though bewildered and confused, he hugged her back.
"Sweetheart are you okay? Did you have a nightmare?"
"Uh-huh. It felt real."
"You're okay now. I got you."
He hugged her tighter, patting her assuringly on her back.
"What was your nightmare about?"
"I dreamt you left me." She lied. "Promise me you'll never leave me Adrian. Promise me."
He kissed her on the forehead, then on her eyes, going down to her nose and finally stopping on her lips. He kissed assuring words on her lips, whispering promises of eternal love.
"Till death. I'll only leave you in death. This I promise."
Tears stood in her eyes as a promise of perpetual love made her heart ache sweetly. She kissed him deeper, every fiber in her body trembling at the immense love she shared with him. All her life she'd thought nobody would be able to love her the way she desired, but this man in front of her, in the last two weeks, had loved her far more than her imagination could go. They were lost in each other, like two hearts merged as one, only concerned with themselves and never of the world, until a disturbance broke them apart.
"You should take that."
"No Adrain. I'm with you. No one else matters right now."
"We have our whole lives to be together. Take the call, It may be important."
She kissed him deeply one last time before going to get her phone from her reading table.
"Hello Aunty, how are—"
"Did I not raise you to be better than this, Brianna?" The person on the other line cut in. She sounded angry and disappointed which made Brianna every bit confused.
"I'm sorry aunty but I don't understand. What is this about?"
Adrian walked to where she stood, his brows raised in concern, mouthing questions of what was happening and who was at the other end of the line.
"Your mother is going through a lot and you left home? I want to see you in the next hour."
"Yes aunty."
Brianna sighed in frustration, her hands combing her already scattered hair as Adrian patiently waited for an explanation.
"That was my aunt, the one that took care of me when mom was away."
