Violet
"SCHOOL'S OUT FOR THE SUMMER!" Alice yelled as she sprinted for the school gate.
I laughed to myself and jogged after her. I shook my head in disgrace as she hoisted both her middle fingers in the air and spun in circles while screaming in delight.
"You crazy bitch!" I screamed at her through my spits of laughter.
She stopped for a second, pulling a sudden serious face, "Shut up Meg."
I burst into laughter again as she continued celebrating. I turned around to see Alice had caught the attention of our Principal. I muttered an 'oh shit', ran up to her and grabbed her arm, "C'mon!"
We ran all the way to Alice's house in excitement, jumping over fences and kicking mailboxes. Soon we grew a bit tired and quietened down. The one of the best things about me and Alice was that because we were so alike, there was never any awkwardness between us, if it was quiet it would be because we both decided to be quiet.
"So, Alice. Keen for a summer romance?" I winked at her, breaking the silence.
She scoffed.
"Why not?" I urged, elbowing her in the arm.
She rolled her eyes, "Unless his name is Daniel Sahyounie, no fucking way."
I grinned at her, Alice had been completely adamant to the fact that she would either marry Daniel or die alone with fifty six cats. Although I thought it was cute she loved Daniel that much, she was always blind to all the great guys that were basically tripping over each other to get their chance with her. It kind of made me jealous, I mean, it wasn't like I was boy repellent and she was a boy magnet. It's just, Alice was the beautiful one all the guys wanted and she didn't even have to try. Even though we did share some similarities, she had the most stunning bright green eyes, her natural burgundy hair was straight and full with volume. I looked so ordinary compared to her, I had natural curly hair that stopped half way down my back, really dark brown eyes and my skin was tanner than hers. We were the same height and body size but I always felt that there was no comparison between Alice and I. Her beauty just outshone me by a mile.
We soon made it to her place and her Dad, Michael, greeted us both by planting a kiss on each of our foreheads.
"So, Violet are you all packed?" He asked me warmly.
I nodded and smiled, grabbing a glass and filling it up with juice. Alice's dad always treated me like his daughter, I had almost known him my whole life and he had been kind enough to let me tag along with him and Alice on their summer vacation. I found him more of a father figure in my life compared to my own dad. He was never around much.
I almost choked on my juice as I heard a high pitched death scream, me and Michael looked at each other, burst out of our seats and rushed into Alice's room. We were exposed to a distraught Alice, shaking in front of her laptop. We both exhaled in relief and Michael left her doorway, muttering to himself, 'these teenage girls...'
"Okay baby, what have our boys done now?" I giggled while sitting on her bed next to her.
She turned to me unable to speak and pushed her laptop to face me. It was open on Jai Brooks' twitter.
'Off to spend the summer at Daniels family batch. Beach, girls and a carnival. Too excited '
My eyes widened, I then looked at Alice. She was covering her mouth unable to contain her excitement. Her eyes started watering from unexplainable emotion, my expression soon turned sympathetic.
"Baby-" I began.
"VIOLET! OUR BEACH HOUSE IS NEAR A CARNIVAL. OH MY FUCKING GOD. I CAN'T EVEN! WHAT THE FUCK IS AIR?!"
