Beidou woke up with a start, her forehead beading in sweat as she panted heavily. The pain on her head seemed to slice itself in half so she grunted and attempted to shift her body on one side but she felt her whole body getting sore. Also her vision is blurred so she couldn't make up the things surrounding her yet she noticed the unfamiliar ceiling above her. She rubbed her eyes and gazed sideways, crying for help, "Ningguang..." she called out although she felt like she's alone in the room.
But there was a figure on one corner, preparing something. When she heard her cry, she immediately went towards her and sat at the side of the bed, dipping it down slightly, "You're awake." she smiled and caressed her cheek.
Beidou mumbled something then tried reaching out for her face but her weak body couldn't do it so Ningguang held her hand against her cheek gently, feeling how warm Beidou's hand is, "Oh, Ningguang...? Am I dead?" then her face twitched in pain.
Ningguang kissed her palm, "You are alive and well, Beidou." she softly said then ran her fingers through the other's hair, "How could you say that when all this time you lived along with our promise." she chuckled softly.
"Then why am I seeing an angel goddess?" she teased and fondled her cheeks, smiling weakly.
Ningguang scoffed at first but it made her genuinely smile, missing moments like these, "Stop that. You've been through hell and you still have the audacity on spilling flirtatious comments." she shook her head but then chuckled afterwards, slightly hiding some pain.
Beidou noticed how stiff her lady's face was and knew that maybe Ningguang is still upset about what she'd done especially that it lead her to a critical state. She was about to say something when she felt her head being hammered and stabbed so she yelped in pain, "Ack! Ningguang~ It hurts..." she shifted her position but then anothet pain grew from her stomach, "Ow, ow!" there are now tears on the corner of her eyes.
Ningguang panicked as she scurried over to grab the herbal drinks and even almost tripped but luckily she caught her balance, "Hold on, honey. Oh, dear, oh, dear..." she then poured the drink at one small cup and offered it to Beidou but sitting upright causes too much pressure and force on her still severed chest, "Aww, I can't..." she cried in frustration.
"Here, let me help you." she placed the drink on the bedside table first before supporting Beidou's back to ease the pain she's feeling. She grunted as she sat upright but still managed to do so with the help of her lady. Ningguang now flung an arm around her and grabbed the herbal drink, "Drink this, it's a painkiller." she withdrawed the cup right next to her lips.
When Beidou sipped the drink, her face turned into a grimace and coughed, "That's bitter..." she whined and tried to remove the unpleasant favor on her mouth by gulping down continuously.
Ningguang set down the emptied cup, "That medicine is prescribed by Doctor Baizhu and if you loathe for its flavor..." she started and looked at her, "...then how have you been endulging yourself on beers with a pungent taste." she said sternly as she played with her hair.
Beidou frowned first then wraps her arms around her with a bit of difficulty since she's nearly covered with bandages all over, "The medicine does not even have an effect on me..." she panted, her warm breath touching Ningguang's neck, "It feels like I'm being stabbed... Ningguang, it still aches so bad..." she buried her whole face on her chest.
Ningguang adjusted herself and embraced her, also nuzzling her forehead, "Hush, hush... I'm here, don't worry... You'll get better soon, honey." she spoke in a soft tone and patted her back gently, fighting the urge to cry at how pitiful Beidou is in her state, hoping that she has the power to remove her in torment.
