Getting Ready for Sleep

After thinking about everything that had happened in my life, and then what's happening now, I didn't even realise that me and Jane were already at the doors of the kitchen.

I was silent throughout dinner and didn't feel like I wanted to talk, everything had happened so quickly, and I just don't have any words left to say, Gianna would try and make small conversation with me as I ate, but I just didn't feel like I wanted to respond.

I had finished my meal and was able to convince Gianna to let me help her with the dishes. The entire time in the kitchen had been in more or less silence, Jane hadn't once made any effort to talk to me, as if she understood my silence, and I appreciated that.

Once me and Gianna had finished with the dishes, Jane was taking me out of the kitchen, and was now taking me back to what I guess, was now considered to be my room.

"Is everything okay Ana?" Jane asked me, as I look to the floor and not her eyes. "I just don't know what to say, if anything at all, at the moment." It was true I just really didn't want to speak to anyone I hadn't even spoken to Gianna during dinner, everything just seemed to be happening so fast and most of it I didn't even believe would ever happen or was even true.

To be honest, I wasn't as upset as I had been acting so far. I don't even think it's sadness anymore I just think it's the complete shock of everything that's happened, I don't want to stay here, I never planned any of this.

When I did lift my head up to look at Janes gaze, I saw that she seemed sad but understanding. "Ana, I know everything's, so much of a shock for you at the moment but I promise, things will start looking brighter, and I will always be here for you, no matter what," she told me, in a quiet voice, and in seconds my hand was holding hers, as we continued to walk down the many hallways.

Finally we reached a hallway, I actually recognised, but that was only because, it was literally the corridor, the room I had woken up in was down.

Me and Jane, had both entered the room together, but it seemed the room had been cleaned whilst we were gone. The curtains had been opened properly allowing the suns rays to pool into the entirety of the room, The bed was made and the pesky sheets had been been placed back on the bed and as a whole the room just felt cleaner and happier, which made me happy.

Natural light always lifted my mood and brought a smile to my face. "Ah, there's that smile I've become so fond of, these past hours," it was Jane who had made the comment, as she walked up from behind me, and came to my side.

Jane removed the small dark purple cape she had been wearing all day, from around her shoulders, placing it over the back of one of the arm chairs, leaving her arms bare.

The sunlight that was currently pooling into the room, from the large windows, and it started to cover Jane's frame, then I saw something that made me gasp and my eyes widen, in both shock and surprise.

When I looked at Jane as the sunlight touched her skin, she started to... sparkle, the bare parts of her skin, started to light up like thousands of little diamonds covering her arms. The next thing I heard was Jane laughing, as she looked at me and my expression, "your sparkling Jane," I stated the obvious to her, and I just couldn't wrap my head round what was happening.

"I know, but I do love the feeling of the sun," I smiled at her for a moment, and the went back to looking perplexed. "How are you sparkling Jane?" I thought she looked beautiful as she stood in the sunlight, but I really wanted to know, how she was able to sparkle.

"It's just the suns reaction to us vampires, for some reason instead of burning in the sun, like in many of the myths, our skin instead glistens like diamonds, when in contact with the light," I actually found it fascinating, how hers and other vampires skin reacted to the sun. But I'm sure no one was as beautiful as Jane, when their skin interacted with the sun, instead it probably just looked dull.
