a mistake [16]

Y/N's pov:

It was Monday again. I was driving to school. I walked up to my locker and saw Jade getting angry at Tori.

"I told you there is nothing between me and Y/N!" Jade whisper yelled to Tori.

I froze at the mention of my name and just stared at Jade.

"Oh thank god you're here, can you please tell her that we are just friends?" Jade looked at me.

"Yeah, just friends." I said with a blank tone as I opened my locker.

"Very convincing." Tori mumbled sarcastically. "I don't even see a point in denying this anymore."

"I agree with Tori. I mean, ok, we don't have to tell anyone else, but is it really necessary to argue so much just because one person knows?" I gave a questioning look to Jade.

Jade kept looking back and forth at me and Tori.

"Ok. Fine." Jade muttered. "But don't you dare tell anyone else about this, Vega." she said as she walked off.

I sighed and placed my palm over my face. I slammed my locker shut and started walking away. Tori grabbed my hand before I could leave and dragged me to the janitor's closet.

"I can tell something is off." Tori said.

"No, no. Everything is fine." I smiled in hopes of Tori believing me.

"You're lying. C'mon, tell me what's wrong."

I just looked down at my feet. I wasn't feeling the best because of earlier. I knew I could talk to Tori about it, since she knew, but I still felt like I shouldn't.

"It's Jade, isn't it?" Tori asked.

"Yeah." I nodded. "I'm just so confused about everything. When it first started, all we would do was make out.. and other things just for pleasure. But never anything romantic. It made me feel like she was just using me. But lately, things changed. We often cuddle, laugh a lot.. we just enjoy each other's presence without doing anything."

"Oh. Well first of all, why are you keeping it secret? I can tell you don't want to."

"I have no idea. Jade wants to hide it from everyone, but she never tells me why. There are many moments when I hope she will finally ask me to be her girlfriend and I'll be able to proudly show her off, but then, when there are people around, she always acts like I'm just a friend." I rambled.

"Wait, you guys aren't even dating?" Tori wondered.

"No. That's why I'm so confused. I don't know what she wants." a tear fell down my face.

"You have to confront her." Tori said while wiping my cheek.

"I want to, but.. I'm scared. I don't want to lose what we have."

"It's better to lose it than to feel like this every single day."

"I guess you're right." I sighed. "Thank you for letting me talk to you. I feel so much better. I was going crazy trying to keep it all inside."

Tori hugged me and we left for class.

After class, I looked for Jade. I decided I was finally gonna tell her that I don't wanna keep it all a secret. I found her standing next to her locker and asked her to come to the janitor's closet with me. She followed me there.

"What's up?" Jade asked. "I'd kiss you right now since we are alone, but you don't look like you want it." she joked.

"Not the time." I firmly said.

"Sorry. So, what did you wanna talk about?"

"Uhm.. I don't want us to be a secret anymore. I want us to be committed to each other. I want to show you off. I want to be able to make you feel loved in public and not just when we are alone." I spoke.

"Oh, uh..." Jade looked like she was thinking of what to say. "I don't know... maybe all of this was a.. a mistake."

"I'm sorry.. a what?" I couldn't believe my ears.

I was staring at Jade in complete disbelief. I could feel the tears rushing to my eyes.

"I did NOT mean to say that, I-"

"Sure you didn't. So first, you use me for your own pleasure, you take my fucking virginity, you pretend you love me, and when I finally speak up about my feelings, you say it was a mistake?" my voice started shaking.

"It is not like that, I swear."

"I'm not sure if I can believe that. You say this was a mistake? Well my mistake was allowing myself to fall in love with you again." I said as I stormed out.

"Wait!" Jade yelled.

I just slammed the door behind me and ran out of school. I saw Tori running after me, but I quickly got in my car and drove off. I couldn't believe what Jade said. A mistake? Really? I got heartbroken twice.. by the same person. Tears were streaming down my face like a waterfall. I was close to speeding and getting in a car crash, but I managed to keep my cool.

As soon as I got home, I rushed to my room and locked myself in there. I leaned against the door and fell to the floor. I couldn't control my emotions at all. I was sobbing so hard that I couldn't even breathe. I knew I was in love with Jade, but I didn't think the feeling was so strong. I just couldn't believe what was happening.

I was in love with Jade.

But she wasn't.
