My head whips and makes the fastest 180 turn ever. Behind me and the group, to my side is a man holding a riffle with a woman behind him. "Don't make any funny moves!" We do as he instructs, putting out hands over our head.

"Mr. Gobblebrim! It's me!" Wendy say. "Wendy?" The old man asked, "How can I know it's you?" Wendy thinks for a moment and then says, "That time I was cleaning the storage room I found a grape. You offered to raise my salary if I ate it. It was so dusty..." Mr. Gobblebrim choked back some tears, "Ah! Wendy! It is you! Boy am I glad that all of you folk are okay!"

The woman who was standing behind the man with a riffle steps forward, "Hi! I'm Mrs. Gobblebrim, nice to meet you!" We see Farmer Joop creep down from the roof. We quickly stop Mr. Gobblebrim from putting a few red holes into poor Farmer Joop. After the shock of being almost shot at, we explained who the people were to Joop who became relived.

"Anyway" Mrs. Gobblebrim says, "We saw that horrible storm along with all of those awful goblins. We didn't know what to do, so we hid here. Been hiding here ever since. We have enough supplies to last us a few years at least, as this is a farm store. We were going to wait it out until help came. Oh, but its been so dreadful!"

Joop responds, "Oh boy, I'm sorry to say this, but I have no belief that help will be comming anytime soon. Our town seems to have lost all outside connection. Nothing can get past the blizzard wall that surrounds the area. All phones are down as well..." Mr. Gobblebrim stops listening and goes behind a shelf to reach for something. He pulls out a medium-sized black box.

Inside the box, he pulls out two little phone-looking things. "What about these?" He says to Joop. I take a closer look with the group. They're brand new walkie talkies, a popular product for farms. You see, in the old days, before we had walkie talkies, people used to find themselves lost in fields all the time. It was really dangerous for children who worked in the fields. There is even an old story about a boy who was lost in a field and never returned. I think that was just a story adults tell to scare children.

Mr. Gobblebrim takes some spare batteries, pops them into the walkies, and then hands one to Wendy. She presses the button on her walkie. A few steps away, a whoosh sound comes out of Mr. Gobblebrims walkie. "Would you look at that!" He exclaims.

Everyone was estatic that we found a method of communication. With these walkie, everyone said that we would be able to communicate about two-thirds across town, which is extremely useful in our situation. After a while more of discussion, it was decided by the adults that we would stay here for the night, sleeping carefully behind the shelves with some blankets from the store. Then tomorrow we would carefully make the trip back to regroup.

Mrs. and Mr. Gobblebrim have decide to stay in the store while we discuss our plans. They have enough food and shelter and can serve as a landmark for further scavengings. Like a safe house. It makes sense.

Its about 8:30 now. Everyone has been going to bed way earlier than what we were used to before since we need to use our artificial light sparingly. This makes bed time a lot earlier. I throw my blankets down on the floor. Jessica and Bobby do so too near me. Bradly throws his far away. He looks really nervous. Like he's about to have a breakdown. Its probably just because he's away from Trout.

I ignore him and lay down next to the others. Jessica and I make small talk in the darkness for only about a minute before we have to be quite so others can sleep. I lay awake in the darkness. The hard tile floor under the blankets is uncomfortable. But I'm too tired to care. Too tired to think too much about the sound of the back door creaking open...
