I wake up slowly feeling the air around me. My mouth is dry. Eventually I open my eyes and notice that Jessica is clinging to my foot with her arm. I slowly wiggle off ofher and inspect the moring Better Buy. The store is very peaceful. Soft rays of sun float down from the skylights and welcome me awake.
Our provisions are still in order along with Martin's Journal and the dirt sifter. I pick up the dirt sifter and quicly rub it in the outside frost a little. It takes all of the crust off of it. Out loud I say to myself, "Well, if nothing else. We can at least bring this dirt sifter home." I guess I said this too loud because I see Jessica right behind me who says, "Morning!"
I turn to her and tell her, "Yes. It is." She smiles and tells me, "Okay, we need to pack our things and survey the store one more time. Then we need to figure out where to go next." I'm shocked. I clarify, "N-Next?! Jess, you know we're not going to find anything else! We need to face the facts!"
She interrupts, "But what about the letter?! You know that has to be a message from Martin! He wants us to find him!" I shake my head at her, "Please, Jess. Let's go home. You know that we have no other evidence that the letter is true. It could have been some sadistic prank from Bradly, or something. You know that guy has no guilt."
Jessica sighs, "Yeah. You're right. I guess I was just disappointed we wouldn't be able to find anything else. It was a bad idea. Lets go back." I grab my backpack and she grabs hers. We do a quick check around and find nothing else. After that, I head over to the pile of technology and pick up the Ybox.
Jessica scolds me, "Shigeru, you can't bring the Ybox with you! Its too heavy." I stare at her for a moment thinking of a response. I tell her, "You're right. I don't think I could carry it back anyway. Will you do me a favor and go grab the journal? I'll go get the dirt sifter. She nodds and turns around.
While her back is turned, I quickly cramm the Ybox into my backpack. No way I'm leaving it behind! Then once it's nicely tucked in, I proceed to grab the dirt sifter. However, my hand jirks back after I see it. The dirt sifter, which was previously in the shape of something that resembled a wolverine claw, is now glowing sliver and in the shape of an arrow.
I run over to Jess and show her. Her eyebrows shoot up and she asks, "How we're you able to do that?!" I shrug. Jessica tries to bend the metal in its old shape, but it won't budge. I take the sifter from her. But when I turn it around so that it faces my body, the metal bends in the other direction.
"It's a compass!" Jess exclaims. I move it around some more. Surely enough, the sifter's arrow never budges from that one direction. We examine it some more. She notes, "We'll, we know its not going to the north. The sun rises from the east and it's not going behind us. It's going more in a West-South direction."
I ask her "Do you know what this means?"
"No."
I clear my through, "This means our adventure is not over!"
