Sooooooooo, in the end they agreed to let me, Jessica, and Bobby help with the cause. Bradly, unfortunately, was forced to help as well, since he is one of the strongest of my classmates. In for a penny, in for a brainless bully, I suppose. At least we aren't bringing Trout along.

It's been a few hours since we have decided to search the town in hopes of finding survivors. We are just about to leave. I have Debra tucked tightly in away in my belt. I think I'll be needing her today. Things might become bloody. I stand in line with Jessica, Bobby, Bradly, and the other adults who are comming with us. Farmer Joop and Wendy are two of those people.

Farmer Joop nodds at our troops. With our heavy winter coats and farming weaponry, we start walking towards town, crunching away in the new snow.

Honestly, if everything hadn't been happening, then I might honestly be enjoying the snowy view from inside. It wasn't this often you had everything frozen in such perfect chaos.

Every few miles, Joop stops to survey the area. This goes on until we finally appear in the outskirts of town. Half of McHenry County is fairly spread out from farms, while the other half is close an compact like a typical old Town. With rows of shops going down hills for blocks.

Wendy and Joop direct us to a strip mall. We all circle around right outside the back door. Wendy pulls out a lanyard of shiny objects from around her neck. "Keys?" Bradly remarks in a sassy tone. Politely, Wendy respondes," Yep. I work part time at Plows and Hows part time during the spring and summer. Its a good thing I was working right before all of this because this store happens to have an accessible roof where we can see the goblins from afar.

We all had to admit it was a smart plan, and a good place to go. We should even be able to collect more supplies here. Jennifer said, "This place is inside, right? Why don't we move here so we don't have to make shelter in the cold huts?" Wendy sheepishly smiled and answered, "No. Any insulated building is too close to the center of town for us to permanently stay in. It's too dangerous. Besides, the front of the store is covered by windows. And it won't be long until our tiny village becomes much more bearable. McHenry farmers are good at building, you know."

Jessica nodded understandingly. With a quick pop, the door opened smoothly. We all hurried inside to avoid making contact with any goblins. The strip mall interior looks way bigger than it did on the outside. All of the stores seem to be connected through doorways leading through the small array of stores. We duck down behind the displays and check if there are any goblins in front of the store that can see us. Luckily, there are not.

A simple gaze around the store tells us that there is a fair amount of very useful supplies here. Everywhere I look is farming equipment galore! Before we can begin scavenging, Joop heads up the stairs to the roof to quickly look with his magnifying glass for any near by goblins. While he is checking, the rest of us hide behind the counter in the back.

I turn and whisper to Wendy, "Hey Wendy. Why is there a set of stairs that goes to the roof of a strip mall anyway?" She turns to me and says, "The owner was some sort of a weird guy. After the war, he invested in a bunch of Plows and Hows stores. Made some sort of a fortune. Anyway, he finally built a store here in his own town. When they were constructing it, he instructed the builders to build him a special staircase to the roof so he could pursue his favorite hobby"

"And what hobby was that?" I asked. She turned to me and said, "Hip-hop style break dancing."

Wow, I think to myself. Must've been some war!

Suddenly, my thought are put to pause as I hear the sound of a rifle clicking. "FREEZE" I hear a voice behind me say...
