Our group is dumped into a frenzy. An array of questions fills the air like bouncing molecules.
I look around and I look around again. "Has anyone seen my Aunt?!" I ask. "Or my father?" Bobby chimes in." The groups heads shake and they frown. There about thirty more people here that I can see. Its clear these people have not had an easy time sime this whole thing started.
I cant believe I still haven't found my Aunt yet. I can only hope for the best, but the worst seems to be becoming more and more real. "Don't ye fret sonnies! Old Doc gots you covered" I turn my head and look up. Standing in front of me, like a great monolith of hope. "Old doctor Billy Bob?" Bobby asks.
Dr. Billy Bob spits in a can he has had tucked away and continues, "Yesssirreee! The plague of the 1930s couldn't kill me! This won't either!" Billy Bob makes a high pitched hill-billy laugh.
As crazy as it seems, I'm glad to see that the old doctor is doing well. I visited him when I broke my arm when I was younger. Despite the fact that he only gave me candy and waited with me until a real doctor came, I still always respected him. When I look at this dirty, longly-bearded, mostly toothless old goat, it gives me an odd sense of hope. Because perhaps if he can survive, than maybe...
Anyway, all of the adults are talking now. Joop says, "Okay, since this building is too close to where the goblins are, I think it would be in everyone's best interest to move to the safety camp. A pea field split cannot stand! After all, we should have enough resources for everyone." The group nodds in aggreance. Joop continues, "since there is danger in traveling in groups, I will have Wendy lead all of the people from the clinic to the camp. We'll call you group A. You will stop at the strip mall for supplies than quickly go to the camp"
"What about us?" Bobby asks Joop. "Right, I was getting there. You kids, myself, and the other farmers that came with us here, besides Wendy, will go forth with the plan to go to the Better Buy store that's a block away. Then we will quickly clear the library next door afterwards. I don't think we will run into any trouble. We will just check for survivors, scavenge what we can, and then get out of there. Okay, let's get ready."
Honestly, I'm angry that we can't go through more buildings sooner. I'm still burning hot from the things Bradly said to me. When we arrive back to camp, I'm going to tell Mr. Buzzleboop what he said to me. I don't care if we're in the midst of Marshall law. What Bradly said to me is not okay.
After all the clinic survivors have gathered their things, we divide up into two groups. Group A goes first. They quickly sprint towards the strip mall fast enough so that they were never here. My group is up next. We wait until there is enough space, then we proceed to run. You would think I have become a better runner from running so much these days. But that cold air chills your lungs faster than a tassle-puller doing 190...
