TW: Neglect.
JoJo has always been the type of person to fly solo for everything, social events, general socialising as a whole and life itself.
The lack of love from his parents made him worry that he may act the same towards someone else so he just avoided people at all costs.
He didn't enjoy it though, he always wanted to have a friend. He'd see all of the other students at his school chatting and having fun and it would make him feel like a part of him was missing. He especially didn't like having to sit beside teachers on the bus to any days out with his school.
He had had a friend when he was younger, but he moved away to Florida(as a non-american, this is one of the few places i actually know in the states) and he hasn't had a proper friendship since.
When he received the letter he couldn't have been any more happy, it was an opportunity to make friends and fit in somewhere. He would be in a place where nobody knew him and he could reinvent himself entirely.
