Kid Blink couldn't have cared less about school. To him it was merely 7 hours of his life he'd never get back taken from him on the daily.

His grades weren't terrible, he might have hated school but he was smart enough to know the bare minimum of where his grades should be. So he got barely passing grades so that he could eventually graduate and be finished with school for good.

His parents didn't pressure him into going to college or getting fabulous grades. They themselves hadn't gone to college but rather went into apprenticeships, his mother as a seamstress on Broadway and his father as a mechanic.

When he got the letter his parents encouraged him to accept, saying he'd never know what opportunities it could open up for him.

He didn't plan on trying to get better grades at this boarding school. No, he was perfectly happy with his grades as they were and he had not a single intention of changing that.
