The next morning Jack and Davey were brainstorming ideas on what they could do next for the protest to end it once and for all.
Jack had made it clear from the beginning that he refused point blank to do another speech.
The other two had been such a disaster that he was starting to believe that they were cursed.
Davey suggested they wrote to one of the newspapers with an article collectively written and see if they can publish it.
They both had thought that it was a good idea until they remembered that none of the newspapers would publish anything to do with them.
Pulitzer had declared a ban on any news of their protest and since his family historically have owned the World since it was founded he had a quite a strong influence over other newspaper owners.
This predicament brought them to a block and neither of them could figure out a way to deal with it.
Once all the Newsies were sitting in the canteen for breakfast they explained the plan to them, and then explained the predicament.
They all sat there for a while trying to figure out a way to fix their problem.
"We could publish it ourselves," Katherine suggested.
"Where are we going to print it?" Mike asked.
"Yeah, a publisher is hardly going to let us print something that their not publishing," Ike added on.
Some of the Newsies nodded and Jack had to restrain himself from doing the same.
He was supposed to be optimistic, even if it was only for the Newsies.
"There has to be a printing press we could use that my father doesn't have any sort of control over," Katherine reasoned.
"Jack, there's the one in the detention room," Race pointed out.
"That's perfect. We could sneak in tonight and print it," Jack suggested. The rest of the Newsies nodded their heads and shared whispers amongst each other.
"We could add one of your drawings of the Refuge and maybe get it shut down," Davey whispered to Jack.
Jack shook his head. "My drawing aren't that good, it wouldn't be convincing enough."
"Jack your drawings are great and you can ask any of the Newsies and they'll say the same."
Jack nodded and turned back to where the Newsies were discussing the plan.
"So what's the plan?" Finch asked once he noticed that the couple were done talking.
"We're going to do the article and add some of Jack's drawings of the Refuge to get it shut down and get Snyder arrested," Davey explained. "Also Katherine, could one of your parents sign you out so you could get some big person to side with us?"
"I'll get my mom to sign me out and see what else I can do," she said.
"Good, that's good. We still need to figure out how to distribute them," Davey pointed out.
"What about sending them out to the newspapers, they might publish them then," Albert suggested.
They all nodded and finished their breakfast before heading to their first class of the day.
Once they were there they told Ms. Medda the plan for the newspaper.
"I know Governor Roosevelt and I'm due to leave this evening so I can see if he can do anything," she told them.
They all nodded and smiled amongst each other, happy to see something going their way.
