|Hyunjin|

The next day Seungmin avoided me as much as possible.

He had always avoided me as much as possible before but today was different.

Seungmin avoided me completely.

When I arrived in the room there was no one there except for a brown-haired boy who was sitting with his head on the table in the second row.

I slowly walked up to him and sat down next to Seungmin who seemed to be asleep. His head was turned toward the window and I could only see his brown mane.

His body was rising evenly in time to his breathing and if you listened carefully, you could even hear each breath.

Looking at him like this when he was sleeping he looked like a little puppy. He didn't look like a stubborn mutt who would love to strangle me right then and there.

But when the still sleeping body started to move I knew that the cute puppy was about to become a biting dog.

Immediately, I slid away from him a little and looked at him. Seungmin slowly raised his head and looked sleepily around the room. His eyes lingered on me. At first he looked at me with narrowed eyes and then backed away.
"What are you doing here?!" He slid back a little and bared his teeth.

Like I said, a biting mutt.

"Calm down..." I rolled my eyes and Seungmin snorted in annoyance.
"I wanted to talk to you about yesterday." I added and Seungmin's eyes widened but at the same moment they also turned dark again. I could already feel his rejection towards me.

"But I don't want to talk to you..." the brown-haired one averted his gaze again and put his head on the table once more.

He was really stubborn and annoying at the same time.

Couldn't he just hear me out?

"I'm sorry if I offended you in any way yesterday." I looked over at the empty table and sighed heavily but there was no response from Seungmin. There continued to be a stifling silence.
"Man Seungmin-"

"You really don't understand anything, do you?" I was interrupted as he began to speak. Astonished, I turned to him, his head still placed on the table while his gaze was directed to the window.
"I don't understand what you mean." Confused, I raised an eyebrow and saw Seungmin tense his body.
"That's the problem." Jerkily, he raised his head and looked directly into my eyes. His eyes were full of hatred and contempt and his carotid artery stood out.
"You understand absolutely nothing and don't even notice why I actually hate you!" He shouted in my face and I just looked at him dumbly, not knowing what to say.

Seungmin exhaled deeply and then averted his gaze again.
"Now go." His voice sounded serious and I knew if I didn't leave now he would punch me on the spot.

So I stood up, picked up my backpack and sat down in my original place. Just at that moment, the other students came in now including Minho who walked right up to me and sat down next to me.
"Who stepped on your foot this morning?" Minho noticed my bad mood and I just sighed.
"Because of Seungmin?" His gaze wandered to the brown-haired one who was already putting his school material on the table.
"Sort of..." was all I gave in reply and leaned back in my chair.
"You two really want to hate each other for the rest of your lives?" Laughed Minho next to me but I didn't find that funny at all. To be honest, it was all just annoying and my hatred for that mutt was getting on my last nerve.

I didn't even know why he actually hated me. Yeah, I didn't exactly make his life easy but there was definitely something else.

You don't look at someone you just hate with that look of contempt.

When the bell rang for lunch, I left the room with Minho. Seungmin had already left before the end of class because he had to hand in some documents in the teachers' room.
"By now, have you told Seungmin why you joined the club in the first place?" Minho stretched and then looked over at me. I just shook my head.
"And what if he finds out?" Asked Minho another question and slowly he started to get annoying.
"He won't find out, got it?!" I nagged at my best friend who started laughing and then patted me on the back in a brotherly way.
"You're lucky you're my friend. Otherwise I would have thrown you into the afterlife long ago."

"Aren't you already doing that anyway?" My eyebrows went up questioningly and Minho just smirked.

As we continued to walk down the hallway toward the schoolyard I saw two students bullying a boy. At first I couldn't tell who was being put through the wringer but as we got closer to the three, I saw Seungmin standing against the wall like a scared dog.

"That someone like you is the teacher's pet is hard to miss." Said one of the older students, putting his hand around Seungmin's chin to give him a closer look.
"Someone like you must be sucking the teachers' dicks to get good grades, right?"

I stopped and looked over at them.
"What's the matter?" Minho also stopped and looked at me until he turned his gaze in the direction I was looking.
"Go ahead." With quick steps I walked past him and Minho wanted to say something but I was already gone.

Immediately, I walked up to the two of them and yanked the black-haired one who was just holding Seungmin's face away from him.
"Just leave him alone." I hissed and the two took a few steps back. I knew those two all too well. Mark and Jackson were the bullies here at school and had Seungmin on their conscience since the beginning.

Both of them eyed me with a snide look.
"Don't interfere with that Prince." Jackson almost spat the name Prince out of his mouth, causing my anger to skyrocket.
"Or what?." Quick as a flash, I grabbed him by the collar and lifted him up a little bit. Fear was forming in his eyes and Mark was also distancing himself now, not even thinking about helping his friend.

"If you touch Seungmin again, I'll finish you off!" I growled at him threateningly and now I was the one who became an angry dog.
"You got it?!" I yelled louder and Jackson nodded mutely. I looked at him scrutinizingly for another moment until I slowly lowered him down.

Immediately they both took flight and I turned to face Seungmin.

He was still standing against the wall like a frightened dog with his whole body pressed against it and the documents he was supposed to hand in were scattered on the floor.

I bent down to pick up the sheets and then held them out to Seungmin who still had his gaze fixed on the floor.

"Seungmin?" Carefully, I put my hand on his shoulder and he flinched. His eyes found mine and he looked at me with fear-filled eyes.

I had only seen him this scared once in my life and immediately the memories I wanted to forget popped back into my head.

Gently, I shook off my thoughts and removed my hand again.
"Here." I held out the documents to him and he hesitantly accepted them.
"Thank you." He murmured and just looked at me silently for a moment.
"Don't you have to put those away?" I pointed to the stack of sheets in his hand and he looked down.
"Uh, yeah!" Nervously, he waved his hands and started moving toward the teachers' lounge. I followed him.

"Why are you following me?" Immediately, Seungmin's annoyed voice came out again and he was back to his old self.
"I'll make sure no one else bothers you." I shrugged and walked right beside him.
"I don't need anyone to watch my back." He hissed and turned his head away.

Yep, he was back to his old dumb mutt self.

We stopped in front of the teachers' lounge and Seungmin knocked a few times until a teacher opened the door and took the documents.
As we were about to leave the teacher called my name.
"Hyunjin, Ms. Lee would like to speak with you for a moment." He told me and I nodded silently.

I knew exactly what she wanted.

Seungmin looked at me in surprise for a moment but then disappeared behind the corner and left.

I looked at the place where he had disappeared for a moment until Ms. Lee said my name.
"Hyunjin, do you have a moment?"
