MIKAH POV:I knew having a human mate was very rare but I didn't realise just how much attention it would bring to the pack. Other packs wanted to hear more about this mate of mine while other wanted my pack for themselves.
Some wondered what it meant if she were to bare my child. While some humans didn't live through child birth or even the pregnancy with a baby that's part wolf, if Eleri is mated to me it means it could be different. This excited the other packs.
I think the reason why most humans don't live if they have a child with part wolf is because of the DNA and their body rejecting it. I guess it's part of the change without actually being turned.
There has been many werewolves that have come forward wanting to fight me for the role of Alpha and take the pack as their own. They think the pack is weak because of my human Luna and they think I'm unfit to lead. Just because Eleri is human it doesn't mean taking her as my mate hasn't had the same effect as it normally would on me. I feel the strongest I've ever felt, I already sense the change in me and even the others have said they see it.
I won't back down. They need to see that just because shes human doesn't mean we're weak. No one is taking my pack from me!
"You shouldn't lie to her" Matt said entering the office after Eleri left.
"I'm not lying to her." I said sitting down behind my desk and rubbed my temples.
"No but you aren't exactly being honest either."
"I've told her what she needs to know and that's all that matters" I said looking up at Matt who was in front of my desk now.
"So you plan on fighting back?"
"I don't know" I said honestly. I knew I could take anyone that wanted to fight but I also didn't want to put my pack and new Luna at risk.
"Well the moonlight duel is in a week and you've been invited to fight."
"I know." Of course I knew. Everyone in the house was getting ready for it. It's sort of held like a festival and every pack looks forward to it every year but this was the first time I'd ever been invited as a fighter.
If I was going I needed to decide soon. It was a couple days journey there and we'd need to make plans to set off. I was stuck as whether to bring Eleri, she'd be expected to be there but she's human surely there would be a way around that given the obvious. But that would make them want her there more. She was my Luna now but I wanted to keep her out of this the most I could.
I still couldn't believe she'd asked me to turn her. She'd really thought about it, I mean I knew it would be a conversation we'd have to have at some point but I didn't think it would be something she'd actually want. I'd promised her I would if she still wanted me to turn her by the next full moon but the next full more was in a few days time and the day of the moonlight duel.
I made a mental note to get in touch with our pack witch and see if she knew anything about humans being turned and how it effects them.
ELERI POV:
I knew Mikah wasn't being completely honest with me, as I left his office I passed Matt as he entered and I knew something more serious was going on just by the look he gave me.
"Aria!" I said knocking on her door.
Aria opened the door and she had this face that almost said 'oh crap I know why your here' and she would be right.
"Oh hey what's up?" Aria said trying to act or casual but her change in voice giving it away.
"Can I come in so we can chat?" I said looking past her into her bedroom.
"Right, sure!" She opened her door and stepped to the side letting me in.
Aria's room was just how's your expect it to be. The walls are painted a pale duck egg blue and has a beautiful white 4 poster bed with sheer white curtains framing it and about 20 throw pillows and 2 different blankets in it. She has a large window that lets in the most amazing light and a vanity in front of it with fairly light around the mirror. It was overly teen girly but it was feminine and pretty.
I sat on the end of her bed and she came and joined me.
"Before you say anything" Aria started "I want to know about your night with Mikah and how you hadn't left that bedroom at all yesterday!"
My face turned bright red.
They all werewolf hearing oh god!
"Did you.." I paused the wanted to say the words. "Hear us?"
Aria let out an awkward laugh "Honestly we all tried not too."
I wanted the ground to swallow me then and there. How was I going to face any of that pack again.
"Your not the first though, we hear some of the other all the time and without warning. At least we knew."
"I'm not sure that makes me feel any better." I said looking at the floor. Knowing that they knew what we were going to be up to really didn't help at all.
"Come on!" She said throwing her arm over my shoulder "forget about that, was it the best night of your life?" She stuck her tongue out at me.
"You have no idea." I said feeling my cheek heat up "but anyway thats not why I'm here!" I said quickly changing the subject to the matter at hand. "What's going on with Mikah and what does it mean that a threat as been made to the pack?"
Aria shifted slightly "it's not my place to say, Mikah should tell you."
"Aria he's not going to tell me shit and you know that."
"It's not that he doesn't want to tell you, he's just protecting you. He doesn't want you to worry."
"Well I am worrying because if he's not telling me everything it means it's serious."
"He's been challenged." Aria said looking down at her hands.
"What do you mean by 'challenged'?"
"He's been challenged for the position of Alpha, they don't think he's fit to lead with a human Luna and they think he's weaker now."
I felt my heart sink, all of this because of me. "Is he?" I said feeling guilty.
"What! No of course not. He could take anyone who challenged him especially now that he has you, he's so much stronger then he's ever been."
"So what will happen, if someone wants to take his place as Alpha what does that mean?"
"It means he has to fight them..."
My phone started ringing and I didn't want to end this conversation here there was so much going on in my head and I need more answers.
I pulled my phone out of my pocket to see it was mum ringing and something in my gut told me it was important.
"Hey mum." I said cheerfully.
"Honey it's your dad." Mum said her voice sounding strained. "It's time."
