after a long drive in the minivan with the pack, we finally arrived, there were hundreds of people who I assume were wolves unloading cars and minivans. everywhere was covered with large off-white teepees and lights strung all around from trees to tents. there was a large stage in the middle and a bonfire too.one by one we all piled out bringing our bags and camping supplies with us.
I stepped off the last step of the minivan with a small jump, I could feel the soft grass under my feet and the smell of wilderness. it all brought back so many memories of when Mikah and I met, it felt like so long ago.
Mikah had gone to sign our pack in and we wandered off to the tent with a bar.
the whole drive to the moonlight duel I felt sick, id never been one for having travel sickness but I was extremely nervous about being around so many wolves and their packs so I wasn't really that surprised I was feeling sick.
"hey" aria shouted as I entered the tent bar. "what's your poison?" I still wasn't feeling great so I passed on the drink, "I'm good," I said with a smile. "ill go find Mikah"
I made my way out of the tent when I felt someone pull me to the side I instantly relaxed when their hard chest and smell felt familiar. I looked up and Mikah placed a soft kiss on my lips.
"what was that for?" I asked. "come with me." Mikah sounded demanding hearing his alpha come to the surface.
"Mikah what's wrong?" I breathed out trying to keep up as Mikah pulled me by my hand. he pulled me into a stunning teepee with fairy lights strung about and a gorgeous kingsize bed in the middle.
"what's this?" I said looking around? "it's all ours" Mikah smiled pulling me to him. smiling back I kissed him and he kissed me back. This longing feeling that hasn't gone away since we'd mated was getting stronger and stronger. Mikah pulled away leaving my heart aching for more.
The kiss deepened, while kissing me Mikah had somehow pushed me towards the bed without realizing till I fell back onto the soft memory foam and fresh linens.
I landed on the bed and pushed myself up with my elbow sinking into the mattress more. I looked up at Mikah and he had a fire in his eyes, lust that id seen in them before. I knew I was in for the time of my life.
...
"I have to be honest with you," Mikah said as we lay in bed, my head on his chest. the way he spoke made my heart sink. my heart told me this was something serious and not anything good.
"where not here this weekend for a nice get away." i felt Mikhas body tense as he spoke.
i sat up feeling myself getting angry, "im actually here to fight for my place as alpha."
MIKAH POV
"How could you lie to me!" Eleri shouted at me from across the bed as she angrily got dressed.
I hated seeing her this way, I hated upsetting Eleri most of all. She never would have come if I told her the truth, I don't blame her.
"Look you have to understand it from my point of view, you never would have come if I'd told you."
"Damn right I wouldn't have Mikah, how could you!" Eleri said as she started to calm down. I could see the tears in her eyes and my heart ached.
"I did what I thought was best, I need to do this for not only my pack but for you, our future together."
"Mikah, you could die!"
"I know that," I said looking down at the ground.
"And you're okay with that?" She said voice raised.
"I do what I have to to protect the people I love"
"i need some time" eleri said, before i could anwsner she made her way out of the tent.
I knew Eleri wouldn't understand, no human could understand the way our world works and the need to prove who's tougher and who the leader is. It's always been this way since I can remember, it's how I've been raised. It's bred into us from a young age to fight for what's our and don't back down or you'll be weak.
My father had a way of making me feel worthless as a wolf and leader. He's constantly told me I was the weakest out of me and my brother and beat us for as long as we could stand.
In a way that made me the man, I am today. I'm not evil like my dad was but I'm stronger because I'm not like him, I learned to be the alpha he never was but what everyone wanted.
I could feel my wolf rising to the surface the more I thought of him.
He would be my fuel in the fight.
i made my way out of the tent to catch up to Eleri and try and make it up to her.
Everyone was eager for the fights, drinks were being served the smell of food was in the air. I didn't know if I was ready but as soon as I saw my bother I knew things were going to get nasty.
Xander had come to fight for his place as an alpha but did I expect any different. I hadn't seen him since the day he took Eleri and I was still very much angry over it.
Xander smirked as he noticed my anger surfacing.
"Well hello there brother!" He said in a normal kind manner if I didn't know him better. "What a surprise seeing you here."
"Of course, it's not though is it," I said through my teeth.
"Now, now brother." He said coming closer, "save that pent-up energy for the fight."
My brother made me furious, some part of me wanted my old brother back, the brother whom we would run through the woods as wolves. We'd helped each other sneak in girls and party together. I wondered if I'd ever have that back.
But that brother wasn't standing before me, this brother was angry, I understood his anger towards me in a way, yes he should have been alpha because he's oldest, my father beat him, punished him, and pushed him to be alpha all the things he endured to then not become alpha. That I understand but that wasn't my plan. I didn't intentionally go for his role as alpha.
But that's the way it ended up and I can't change that now.
"Brother please, I don't want us to fight."
"Why's that?" Xander smirks "scared you'll lose?"
"No, I'm scared to lose you completely"
"Since when have you cared about losing me?" The anger was clear on his face. " you didn't care after everything father put me through to take my place"
"You know that wasn't my plan!"
"Could have fooled me" Xander said as he pushed past me knocking my shoulder.
