Part 22 - Monster

Mikah's words rang through my head.

I killed him.

I sat in the bath stunned and looking at the floor not making eye contact with Mikah.

Surly he's not being serious? How could anyone kill their own father? Xander told me that their dad was scum but surely not that bad.

"Eleri say something."

"I-," I said still not making eye contact. I couldn't believe the words that came out of him mouth. Knowing Mikah there must be a reason but the Mikah I know couldn't do something like that. Could he?

"You have to understand something. My dad wasn't a good person he hurt a lot of people, human people and our kind. He wasn't a good person Eleri."

"What did he do?" I finally asked.

"Being Alpha he became power hungry, he forced woman including my mother to bare his children. Even humans."

"What's happened when a human and a wolf have a child?"

"Most of them died."

My heart sank and I swallowed hard. If I was to mate with Mikah, would we never be able to have kids together? But I'm being stupid that's not the most important thing right now.

"He wanted to create an army of wolves and hybrids. He hurt so many people and hurt us."

"You and Xander?"

"Xander's not my only brother. He had another son from another woman. He's a hydride but I don't know where he did today."

"And your mother? What happened to her?"

"She never cared for us, she never wanted us but it was forced upon her. She left as soon as we were born and my dad didn't stop her, after all he had what he wanted."

Tears started to well up in my eyes I couldn't imagine my life without my mum or dad. I can't imagine what life would be like with people who cared about me. It must of been so hard for him to go through so much.

"So why did your brother say you stole the pack from him?"

"Well we were all going rogue and leaving my father. We'd had enough of his abuse but then he tried to stop us, we thought he was going to kill us. In the wolf word the person that kills the alpha becomes the alpha. My brother being the oldest was next in line but I killed my father so I became alpha."

I sat in the bath looking at the bubbles thinking about everything Mikah was telling me when I heard splash and felt the water move. I looked up to see Mikah in the bath with me. He turned me around so my back was on his chest and we lay in silence in the bath.

My mind was spieling. How hard must that have been for him.

"I hope you know I'll never be like him." Mikah said bringing me back to room.

"I know."

"He created me to be a monster but I couldn't do that. I couldnt be like him."

"And you never will be." Said said turning my hand so my cheer was on him chest and placed as hand on his chest too. Feeling his heart beat made mine flutter. I've never felt so safe being with him right now. He's no monster.

We lay in silence once more enjoying each other company and Mikah started to gently wash me with a sponge and soap and I lent into the sensation. I wanted to stay like this forever. Me and him and the rest of the world outside.
