I sat in the canteen having lunch with Alex, Cat, Logan and Max. They were all chatting away while I quickly texted Mikah.
You requested for me to work on the artwork in your book?
He writes? How did I not know this. Is that what he studied here? The poem, it makes so much sense now. I wonder what his books about? I'm sure I'll find out soon enough working on it with him. But why did he request me?
"Hello? Earth to Eleri." Cat said snapping her fingers in my face.
"Oh sorry, what were you saying?"
"The new girl." Cat tilted her head towards a girl that had just walked into the canteen that I didn't recognise.
She's stunning with dark skin and curly hair, she has the most beautiful bright green eyes that I could see from across the room. She's wearing high wasted jeans, a band tee and gold hoops with black painted nails.
"She seems weird." April said to Cat.
"Right?!" Cat agreed "i thought the same."
"I think she's pretty hot." Logan said and Max nodded in agreement.
"Of course you would think that, creeps!" Cat said snapped at them.
I watched the new girl and she looked around the canteen for a place to sit and she made her way to an empty table across the way from us. She placed what looked like a sketch book down on the table, sat down and opened it.
Was she going to be in my class? I was watching her when my phone vibrated.
I want only the best artist working on it with me. Meet me after lunch in room B3.
Okay, see you there!
After lunch I started making my way down the corridor to the class.
"Your Eleri right? A voice said next to me.
I turned to see the new girl smiling at me.
"Uh, yeah, hi!"
"Hey, my names Sage! I saw you watching me in the canteen."
"Oh, you did?" I said nervously "sorry about that I just saw your sketchbook and wondered if your in my class with Mrs Smith."
"I thought as much. Yeah I'm in her class."
Sage and I chatted as I made my way to the class room, as I approached the room I looked to Sage.
"So this is me."
"Ah working on something with that Mikah guy?"
"Yeah, how did you-?"
"Here take my number, let's hang out okay?" Sage said cutting me off.
I was starting to like Sage and I instantly felt like we clicked. But how did she know Mikah already? And how did she know I was working on something with him?
"Yeah, id like that!"
"Great! See you around." Sage said waving as she walked off.
I walked into the room where Mikah was sat at the table with a pile of papers infront of him.
"Hey!" I said placing my bag down near the table.
"Hey you!" Mikah said turnin to smile as me.
"Have you met sage already?
"Who?" Mikah said looking confused.
"The new girl?"
"Not I haven't even seen her yet why?"
How weird? I'm sure she's heard about him around the school though so I'm probably just thinking to much into it.
"Never mind!" I said sitting down next to him "So what are you wanting me to do?"
Mikah turned to look at me, smiled and gave me a peck on the lips. I looked to the door where it had the glass cut out.
"Someone could see us!" I said slapping him on the arm.
"So?"
"So! I thought we were keeping us" I said gesturing between me and Mikah "a secret."
"I thought maybe we could start hanging out?"
"What do you mean?" I said looking at Mikah confused.
"Well we now have a reason to be hanging out together at college."
He had a point but wasn't he worried that people would make up rumours or he would drawing attention to himself?
"I'm getting tired of pretending to not know each other."
The thought made me smile. He was right it was getting really hard to pretend we don't know each other at least if we could say hi and eat lunch together. Things could change with our life outside too.
"Your right. Tomorrow let's come in together okay? Your with me in first class anyway."
"I'll pick you up?"
"Deal! now what's this about your book?!"
Mikah had been writing a book for a while now as his dream was to be a writer. He'd never told me this before and when I asked why he hadn't he was scared I'd laugh that a werewolf wanted to be a writer but I found him more attractive. His love for books and being in my art class made so much sense. He was in my class because he needed to study art and how he could apply it to different books.
He knows I want to be an artist and have my own gallery one day so thought I'd be the best to work on the art for his first complete book and it made my heart swell.
His book is about a prince from the medieval time that's in love with a girl who ends up being a witch. It sounds amazing and romantic and I start working on sketches for it straight away trying to workout what style would be best for it.
I was sketching away when I got a sharp pain my side.
"Are you okay?" Mikah said looking concerned as I hissed in pain grabbing my side.
The pain suddenly faded and went away.
"Yeah I'm fine now."
"What was that?"
"I don't know, I'm sure it's nothing."
Mikah looked at me with concern but knew I wouldn't want to talk about it anymore so he left it and we continued working on the book.
I got back from college and entered the house throwing my bag by the door.
"Hey mum I'm home."
"Shh!" Mum said as she came down the stairs.
"What's wrong?" I said looking at mum concerned.
"Your dads taken a bit of a turn but don't worry he's in bed now and the doctor has said he just needs to rest.
I was really worried about dad but I did what mum told me to do and just leave him to rest. Some days dad seems totally fine then others I wonder if he's ever going to get better. He works himself to hard and the doctors have told him to stop but he won't listen. He's a strong willed man my dad, and I get that from him too.
