First Sight (Marina)

Chapter 4

As Maya sat in her hotel chair touching up her make up while Andy was curling her hair and Vic was making sure her dress was ready, she was losing her shit, her heart was pounding, mind racing, hands shaking nervousness evident on her face, Andy noticed but didn't address it because who wouldn't be nervous on their wedding day?

Maya was not nervous about the wedding, she was nervous about how she felt towards the brunette that didn't leave her brain, she was nervous as to what to say to her after their little moment at her porch the night before, she could play it off and say she was drunk out of her mind, and that she does stupid stuff when she is drunk, but she knew that it wasn't a drunken impulse.

What scared Maya even more are the feelings she felt whenever she made eye-contact with the brown eyed girl, she felt every cell in her body come alive, goosebumps come all over her body, electricity and adrenaline shooting through her veins.

What she had with Jack was good, he treated her well, she was satisfied and happy, but she never felt her whole body come alive whenever he touches her or looks at her.

As Maya zipped up her dress, she took a deep breath, and straightened out her wedding dress, poised herself and looked at herself in the mirror readying herself to take a few steps to leave her room, but she couldn't bring herself to put one foot in front of the other. 

She stood there for a couple of minutes looking at herself in the mirror, Andy and Vic on either side of her looking at her adoringly through the mirror as she chose them to be her bridesmaids. "Come on, lets go" Andy said linking her arm with Maya's and started making her way to the door, but stopped when she realized Maya didn't budge.

 "Wait I need a few more moments" Maya said nervously, Andy nodded understandingly.

Maya's heart dropped when she heard the wedding music starting to play indicating that its her cue to go down the aisle, she heard a soft knock on the door and her father's face appeared as he softly said "It's time honey".

 Maya nodded took another breath, attempted to take the first step toward the door, but she felt like her feet were bolted to the ground, Vic noticed her hesitation and joked to lighten up the mood "If you are having cold feet, I'll drive the getaway car" they all laughed as they helped Maya make her way to her father's side and linked her arm in his.

Maya started to think to herself and decided she will ignore all the feelings she gets with Carina, as she felt like it was one sided and she was just being delusional and decided she will do her best to be Jack's wife, and to love him no matter what.

But all of these thoughts went out the window as her big blue eyes spotted a certain brown eyed brunette standing next to Ben and Miranda looking as beautiful as ever, with a huge smile plastered on her face, suddenly she found herself on the altar, the whole walk down the aisle was a blur.

 As her eyes connected with Jack's she felt as guilty as ever not feeling one ounce of what she feels when she looks into Carina's eyes, but it wasn't her fault, she didn't know her whole world was going to flip around a week before her wedding.

Maya composed herself and tried hard to get the brunette out of her head since she had to exchange her vows soon, is this what they talk about when they say that's how you know you met your soulmate in movies and fairytales? She was still a stranger to her, she barely knows anything about her other than her name and her profession.

Maya blanked as she heard the last words of Jack's vows, everyone waited patiently as Maya tried to find her words to start her vows, but noticed a tall figure from the corner of her eye stand up and make her way to the exit doors slowly, Maya's heart plummeted and got a bad gut feeling, but composed herself again and looked into Jack's eyes and started.
