~One week later~
Maya was at her desk finishing the last of her paperwork before ending her shift when she heard a knock on her door.
"Come in" she yelled, Jack sheepishly came in, but before he could say anything, the short haired blonde said.
"Oh Jack I wanted to talk to you, I contacted my lawyer, she will provide us with the divorce papers on Friday, just so you know" she said in a low voice, not looking into his eyes.
"Oh okay" replied the lieutenant in a small voice as he made his way to leave until Maya stopped him by saying "Wait, why did you want to come talk to me?".
"Never mind its nothing" he said as he closed the door.
'weird' Maya thought to herself, he was not acting himself lately, he was much more quiet ever since she told him how hurt she was by his actions. She shrugged not wanting to think about it.
She groaned and threw her head back when she heard the klaxon alarm go off, "Really? 10 minutes before the shift ends??" she said as jumped off her chair, making her way to the engine.
Her heart stopped when she heard 'Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital' over the speakers, she bolted to the engine and yelled for them to drive, she pulled out her phone frantically texting Carina, but she got no response which made her ten times more worried. 'please please please be okay' whispered the captain under her breath.
"Come on! drive faster!" the captain yelled at Jack that was driving the engine, and turned on the sirens.

"What happened?" asked the captain, as she was confused she didn't see any smoke or fire coming out of the hospital, she turned to look at chief Miranda.
"One of our elevators has malfunctioned, and staff and a patient are stuck inside, it is unstable, it dropped a few floors down from the highest floor" she explained.
"It will be okay" Ben chimed in when he saw his wife's worried face. The captain nodded in agreement and made her way to the scene, yelling back to her team "Nineteen! Grab all the tools can and follow me!".
The blonde made her way to the closed elevator, knocked on it to get the people inside's attention, "Hello! This is captain Maya Bishop, help is here please do not panic".
"MAYA?!" heard the blonde from outside, the voice and accent too familiar for her liking.
"CARINA?" yelled back the captain, she aligned her eye sight between the very slim slit the elevator doors kept open to look inside.
Worried blue eyes met scared brown eyes for a split second, the blonde's world crashing around her when she saw the fear in the brunette's eyes.
The brunette felt overwhelmed with the feeling of safety when she locked her eyes with blue.
Carina suddenly remembered that she has a patient with her, in active labor, when she heard a painful scream behind her.
"You have to get us out of here, she is in active labor, and will have the baby very soon, I do not have any sterile equipment to put the baby in" rambled the OB.
"Ok don't worry, we are on it, just hang on and stay as far away from the doors as you can" said the Captain, pointing at the doors signaling for Dean and Travis to start prying the door open, coincidentally when the elevator plummeted the first time it stopped aligned with the current floor they were on.
The two firefighters struggled to pry the doors open, the mechanism of the doors being too strong.
"Oh no no no no no! Baby is coming, please hurry up!" pleaded the OB, as she started to see the baby's head start to slide out.
