Chapter 25

"Hey dad, what's wrong?" she asked in a small, scared voice that Jack, who was standing in the corner of the room looking down guiltily, never heard come of out of the blonde.

"WHAT'S WRONG?"

"REALLY MAYA?"

He yelled, her office walls shaking at the loudness of his voice.

When Maya flinched back Jack thought it was best to give them some privacy, as he left the office he saw Travis following him towards the outside of the barn so the Bishops can get more privacy.

"WHAT'S WRONG IS THAT I HAVENT HEARD FROM MY DAUGHTER IN SO LONG, ONLY FOR ME TO COME HERE AND LEARN SHE NOT ONLY CAN'T CONCEIVE, BUT GOT DIVORCED, AND ABOVE ALL IS IN A RELATIONSHIP WITH A WOMAN?" he yelled even louder as he counted the reasons on his fingers, his neck veins bulging out and his face red from anger.

Maya's eardrums most certainly hurt from the loudness of his voice as her ears started ringing.

"WHEN ARE YOU GOING TO STOP TAINTING THE FAMILY NAME?"

"ALWAYS ONE DISAPPOINTMENT AFTER THE OTHER" he yelled as he flipped over the chairs in front of her desk.

"JUST LIKE YOUR BROTHER" her shelves got cleared. Items falling on the floor. Her Olympic gold medal strewn across the floor out of its now broken case.

Maya was slowly backing up towards the wall of her bunk, her heart racing and not in the way Carina makes it feel, her breathing is uneven as she feels like she is being suffocated while her eyes fill up with unshed tears.

"EVERYTHING I SACRIFICED FOR YOU, NEVER ENOUGH!" he continued as he slowly started making his way towards her after shoving everything on her perfectly organized desk to joining the other scattered items on the floor.

She tried opening her mouth to defend herself but nothing but a whimper came out when she saw him getting closer to her.

"AND NOW YOU'RE INVOLVED WITH A WOMAN? YOU NEVER GREW OUT OF YOUR DISGUSTING PHASE, HID IT UNDER MY NOSE THIS WHOLE TIME" he spat out, she can feel his intense breaths against her face.

Just as he raised his hand to hurt her, her office door slammed open, Travis and Jack both barged in after hearing the commotion and things breaking immediately restraining him after they saw the scene in front of them.

"HEY GET OFF HER!" yelled Jack as he pried Lane away from Maya who was sliding down to the floor hugging her knees to her chest as her tears started rolling down her cheeks.

Travis was kneeling down in front of her trying to calm her down since she was on the brink of a panic attack, but she couldn't make out what he was saying, her breaths are short and loud, and her mind is racing.

Once Jack came back into the office after kicking Lane out, he saw how worked up Maya was and how she was not calming down with Travis.

He quickly took the blonde's phone that was also thrown on the floor seeing her wallpaper a picture of Maya and Carina from the night of the carnival with big wide genuine smiles on their faces.

He quickly opened her phone and dialed Carina's number.

"Hey bam-" she started before she got cut off.
