Anidita: Mending the relationship

MUHIM: Part VII

"F-Firr kya hua? " I said horrified.

I have drank a whole glass of bhaang yesterday and Samarth had to control me. I don't know what all I would have said to him but when he started telling me the tale of drunk Bondita. I started remembering everything. Slow and blur images started flashing in front of me.

"Firr tum ek shareef titli ko chhedne lagi. " He said while washing his face from the river and I cleaned his face with my chunni.

"Hain kya? " I stopped as soon as I realised what he mean. "Main kyu bhala titli ko chhedungi? "

"Mujhe kya pata?" He shrugged.

I sighed and looked at him, indicating him to say further.

"Uske baad tum uss titli ka peechha karne lagi aur main tumhara. Firr finally maine tumhe pakad liya aur tumhe nadi kinare le aaya varna tum nashe main pata nahi aur kis kisko chhedne lagti?! " He scoffed at last line.

"Galti meri hai. " I said faking sadness.

"Haan. Pata hai mujhe. Lekin kyu? "

"Kyuki mujhe titli ko nahi tumhe chhedna chahiye tha" I said sarcastically and smacked his head.

"Ouch! " He whined and rubbed his head. "Tumhe sharam nahi aati, mujh jaise shareef ladke ko chhedte hue"

Oh! So Mr. Anaay is now teasing me. Let it be! I will also not leave him. I slowly started going closer to him.

"Bo-Bondita....tum....ye-ye kya kar rahi ho? " He said nervously while I laughed internally.

"Tumhe chhed rahi hu" I said and gently kept my hand on his chest.

"Bon-dita.... "

Splash!

I pushed him in the river and started laughing loudly.

"Haha! Ab....aaya maza? "

"Tumhe toh main" He splashed water on me while I ran from there.

"Ruko Bondita! Bondita! " I heard him calling me but I ran to haveli.

I took my books and started studying as I need to come first in whole school to be invited for Viceroy general's welcome. I knew the whole plan of Manorama didi. She will make a bomb, go to Viceroy general on stage and boom! As she is the daughter-in-law of Roy Chaudharys, so she has a right to welcome viceroy.

Wait! Did she married Barrister babu for this reason? To be the daughter-in-law of RCs and get an opportunity to welcome viceroy and kill him. Was this marriage a plan? May be yes and I need to find out about it. Anyways, I think that Manorama didi would have received the instructions for making bomb. Should I check it? I know that she doesn't know how to read and write. I think, I may check it.

I went in her room and to my relief, it was all empty. I started searching for the papers but I found nothing. Sadly, I started going when a small wooden box fell down with a thud. I started keeping it when by mistake it opened and the things from it fell down. Before I could even look at the things, I felt someone grabbing my elbow and turning me harshly.

"Tumhari himmat kaise hui yaha aane ki! " Manorama didi yelled at me.

"Didi aap galat samajh rahi hain main toh bas.... "
"Chup raho tum! Bahut achhe se jaanti hu main kyu aayi ho tum yaha. Firr se mujhe pareshan karne aayi ho na. Peecha kyu nahi chhod deti mera. " She said which were enough to turn my eyes moist and a feeling of guilt gripping my heart. I just looked down and listened to her harsh words.

"Tumhe toh main" She raised her hand on me and I closed my eyes while shielding my face with my hands, in a reflex. I waited for the warm sensation to touch my cheeks but to my surprise it never came. I opened my eyes and saw a hand holding Manorama didi's hand tightly. I removed my hands from my face for a better vision and saw Kaka sasur ji holding Manorama didi's hand tightly, to prevent her from slapping me.

I looked around and found everyone standing there. Probably they may have heard the voice of box falling. Sampurna was as usual enjoying the drama while Sasur ji was busy adjusting his specs, I will ask bhari kaka to tighten his specs, after this drama. Som dada and Batuk were glaring at Manorama didi.

"Tumhari himmat kaise hui Bondita bahu par haath uthaane ki? " Kaka roared while she lowered her gaze. I looked at Barrister babu. In morning, he wanted to massage my head, soothe my pain and now he is just standing like a statue. I smirked internally.

"Vo mere saamaan ko dekh rahi thi isliye-" Her words were cut off by kaka sasur ji's voice.

"Haan toh kya hua agar dekh liya usne toh? Bhulo mat ki aude aur rishte main badi hai vo tumse"

"Kaka sasur ji-" He cut me off with his stern voice.

"Pair chhuo Bondita bahu ke aur maafi maango"

I looked at him in shock. Manorama didi looked at me while I shook my head in a no. She slowly bent down but I held her by her shoulders and hugged her, earning a gasp from everyone.

"Bahu! "

"Bondita! "

I parted from her. "Kaka sasur ji! Manorama didi ki koi galti nahi hai. Mujhe inse poochh kar hi inke saamaan ko chhuna chahiye tha."

"Haan toh jo ye tum par haath uthaane vaali thi vo? " Kaka sasur ji questioned me.

"Badi hai vo mujhse aur jab main kuchh galat karu toh unka pura hak hai mujh par haath uthaane ka" I argued. Manorama didi looked at me with teary eyes, filled with guilt.

"Jo karna hai karo" Kaka sasur ji said angrily and left the scene followed by Som dada, Batuk, Sampurna, Sasur ji and me.

At night, I was admiring the moon from my room's window. It was shining brightly today. I feel bad for Manorama didi. How much I have troubled her on her first day. Shouted at her, cursed her, knowingly put itching flowers on her bed. How much humiliated and bad she would be feeling right now. What was her fault? She didn't married Barrister babu. Or may be she did. I don't have any idea about their marriage.

Knock! Knock!

I turned as I heard someone knocking the door.

"Manorama didi? "

She came near me and held her ears while I stood there confused.

"Mujhe maaf kardo Bondita. Gusse main aake main tum par h...haath uthaane wali thi.... "

"Maine aapse naraz nahi hu" I smiled softly.

"Tum kitni achhi ho Bondita. Main tum par haath uthaane wali thi, firr bhi tumne mujhe maaf kar diya. Tum chahti toh mujhe saza dilwa sakti thi par tumne aisa nahi kiya"

"Main aapki dushman thodi hu, main toh aap hi ki tarah kra.... " I stopped abruptly as I realised what I was going to say.

"Kya kaha tumne? Tum meri tarah kya? " She asked me suspiciously.

"M..main....kya keh rahi thi...main aa..aapki tarah..... Haan! Main aapki tarah hi iss ghar ki sadasya hu na, toh main kyu aapse dushmani rakhungi" I justified myself.

She nodded knowingly.

"Achha ab main chalti hu"

"Ji" I nodded and she left. I again turned towards the window. I won't be able to go Dalhousie, I think.

How was this part? To be honest, when in the show Manorama was crying after kaka's rude words, I felt very bad for her. No matter how much I hate her but she loved Bondita like her younger sister :)
