Chapter 16

Jon's POV

I freed my friends' dragons first then I brought out the dragons for the other kids.

I turned to Brandt, "Brandt you should know that I'm sorry about almost killing you."

"It's fine. My face still hurts though." He complained.

"Just remember that." I smirked and he scowled.

I gave them all dragons and we flew towards the island.

The Red Death was blowing fire at the ships. The vikings had disturbed it and made it come out of the mountain. Asmund and Bard were distracting the dragon so the others could get away. The Red Death was about to fire when BOOM. Sky shot fire at its shoulder. Asmund watched us and mouthed 'what the'...I had the gang and the other group of kids distract the dragon when I went in search of Shadow.

"There!" Ally shouted pointing to the ships.

We flew over and I jumped on the boat. "Go help the others!" I ordered. I turned to Shadow and pulled off the muzzle. "Okay I'm getting you out of here bud."

I begun trying to yank off the chains but they were too strong. BANG! A pole from another ship crashed just behind me and we were launched into the water. Shadow sunk to the bottom and I swam down after yanking at the chains once more. I grow weaker and weaker by the minute and I closed my eyes waiting for the end. I felt someone grab my shirt and bring me to shore. Shadow roared. I coughed and spit water. A few seconds later Shadow burst out of the water carrying a large moving body. It was Asmund. I climbed on Shadow ready to fly.

"Jon wait!" Asmund ran over. "I'm sorry."

"It's fine." I looked at him and smiled.

"You don't have to go up there." He said.

I laughed remembering those words Hiccup's father told him. "Someday you'll understand Asmund."

With that Shadow leaped into the sky ready to beat this monstrous sized dragon.
