Jon's POV

I stood in the cove without Shadow before Hiccup.

"You did it Jon!" He clapped me on the shoulder.

"Yeah but I almost died! Wait I'm not dead right?!" I asked.

He chuckled, "No! Just remember Jon they can never know about me. They have no memory have what happened thousands of years ago..."

"I know Hiccup. Is there anything else you want me to know?" I asked.

"History must repeat itself..." He repeated gravely.

"I already knew that!" I shouted in frustration. I crossed my arms and thought about what he said. 'History must repeat itself', oh my gods. Death. Asmund must die. "Asmund..."

He nodded.

"But he's not my father, my father is back at...." I started.

He gave me a look. "You do realize your thousands of years in the past? You can't go back."

"Wait! Asmund is my father?! But how?!" I demanded. I was so confused.

"He has no idea. Asmund has no family. His wife was taken away by a dragon and his son wandered off when he was five. That would be you. Sort of." He explained.

"How am I supposed to live with the guilt knowing that Asmund is going to die?!" I asked.

Too late. Hiccup disappeared.

Air was just blown in my face. For the third time. I blinked my eyes open to see Shadow staring at me.

"Hey buddy." I reached my hand out and he nuzzled me close licking my face. "I missed you too bud." He continued to lick my face getting closer and closer. His foot stepped on my groin. I sat up quickly groaning in pain. "Ow!"

I looked around to see I was in a very large house. The chief's house. Oh gods. I pulled the blanket away. In place of my left foot was a metal peg leg probably the work of Bard. I gasped. Shadow leaped down from a beam and watched me look at my new foot. I grabbed the bed post and slowly stood up. I took another step only to fall towards the wooden floor but Shadow caught me.

"Thanks bud..." I mumbled.

We limped to the door and I opened it. Dragons. Everywhere. Oh gods. I'm dead. Shadow followed me out to the door. He waited in the doorway while I limped down the stairs.

"I am...sooo dead..."
