5 days later...
"Hey."
That's all that was said. One word. Just one word.
"Hey." Shinsou replied, breathing in the fresh breeze.
"I'm sorry about leaving like that a few days ago. I didn't give you a chance to speak." Monoma apologized. "I wanted to apologize to you a while after I left, but," the blond gave a cough. "You were a bit busy."
Shinsou stilled in his position. So he saw. That's... bad.
Monoma sat beside Shinsou on the bench. "So why are you up so early?" Monoma asked. "I don't think normal people come outside at 5 in the morning on a Saturday, especially since it's pretty cold out now that it's September."
Shinsou gave Monoma a pointed look. "I could say the same thing about you."
Monoma chuckled. "I don't know why I did, honestly. Something in me just said, 'hey, you should get up now' as if I had been doing that for a long time, so I obeyed it."
"Makes sense." Shinsou said. "You and I would always run around this time. There was a special lake we would always stop at to rest and admire the way the sunrise would cause a glow over the water."
Monoma grinned. "Let's go then. We're both already outside, aren't we?"
Shinsou glanced at Monoma, seeing his earnest smile, before giving one of his own. "Yeah, sure."
"Wow, it's beautiful." Monoma awed, as he weaved his way through the trees and into the clearing, lagging a little behind Shinsou.
"I know. See how the water reflects the light?" Shinsou pointed.
Monoma gave an impressed look at the place, feeling the different leaves of gold, orange and red. "Fall is such a pretty season."
Shinsou moved towards the lake, sitting at the edge, criss cross apple sauce style. "Yeah, it is."
"All the flowers here are so pretty. Can I pick them?" Monoma asked, sitting beside Shinsou, also crossing his legs.
"You shouldn't really pick them. What if someone else comes and there's no more beautiful flowers to compliment this lake?"
"But I thought this place was special to only the two of us, since it's the place we would come to rest after running." Monoma thought aloud, inspecting one of the flowers near him.
It's also where I confessed to you.
"You never know if anyone else comes here after us. It's like you said, normal people don't come outside on a Saturday at 5 in the morning." Shinsou informed, putting his head in his palm. "Wouldn't want to ruin their experience too."
"I guess so." Monoma sighed. "Hey, do you have your phone with you?"
Shinsou raised an eyebrow. "Yeah, I do. What do you want to do with it?"
"I was wondering if you could show me the pictures now, since we're here and everything." Monoma said.
"Is there really a point? You'll end up remembering everything in a week, so there's no need to try and rush it." Shinsou responded, trying to deter the other male from his decision.
Monoma exhaled a deep breath. "I know, but, I want to make the most of my time here. I'm not Monoma, I'm just someone who's trying to get his memories."
"What do you mean by make the most of your time here?" Shinsou questioned.
"I want to experience what you do Shinsou. I want to be able to be your friend, and to be everyone else's too. Hell, I want to tell Kendo I have feelings for her!" Monoma laughed, light and carefree.
