Omniscient

Atlanta, Georgia

Paradise stared aimlessly at the large diamond resting on her finger. She tucked her bottom lip in as she analyzed it, running her opposite hand around its perimeter ever so often.

She had been glancing at the artifact for the entire thirty minutes since she had initially peeled her sleepy eyelids apart.

"Baby, you good?"

The groggy voice of Zebediah pulled the woman out of her temporary gaze. She rotated her neck slightly, watching his dark skin shine under the sun rays that peaked through the sheer curtains lining their room.

The girl merely nodded her curl decorated head before averting her eyes to their original view. Her actions drew the male nearer to her with a look of concern sewn into his mien.

"Clearly you're not."

He placed his arm around her still frame, tucking his head into the crook of her neck. With a single finger, Diah pushed away the loose curls that were concealing her face.

"Tell me what's wrong."

Dise pushed out an elongated sigh allowing her eyes to shut for a brief moment, before reopening them. She had been cogitating on one factor in her life for what had felt like hours with no sufficient break.

"Mi nuh waan tuh fight with my parents."

When the words left her parted lips, Zebediah could hear the hurt laced in them. He sighed lowly to himself before bringing the female's frame closer to his own. Paradise's cheeks were stained with dry tears, and her usually white sclerae, had tinted with a bright shade of red.

The woman had found herself in an extremely conflicting situation. She wanted to be back on good terms with her parents, but she also yearned to stay with her husband. Two wishes, which at that very moment in time seemed impossible to become coinciding realities.

After what had felt like hours of the two bathing in complete silence, Zebediah spoke. His question elicited Dise's brows to furrow together, the same moment her bright pink lips turned to a frown.

"Do you want to divorce me?"

Paradise rotated to face the man. Their dull eyes ransacked one another's for moments before the woman finally opted on replying.

"Nuh. Why wud yuh say dat?" The woman pulled her body up to rest against their thick head board. The confusion coursing through her body at that moment was evident, along with a small amount of reasonable anger.
