Three Days Later
Destiny placed her eyes on the man before her, watching carefully as he glanced at anything but; her. For the entire time since they had arrived at the secluded booth in the restaurant, the man hadn't spoken a single word to the woman in front of him. The fact alone, coinciding with the exasperated look plastered across his face; had told the female that the last place he'd wanted to be; was there.
Yet he still sat adjacent to her as they awaited their food. The day had marked the woman's third month of her pregnancy, leaving Zebediah no choice but to man up and be present for her checkup. Still, he would have preferred to be anywhere but before the lady, in a restaurant he merely tolerated due to her persistent begging.
It had been three days since his mother had shown up to his second home, yet still he hadn't gotten an ounce of explanation from her, leaving the man both frustrated and concerned.
Black kitten heels tapped lowly against the establishment's checkered floors, creating a sequenced clicking sound; alerting the pair of the upcoming waitress. When she had finally arrived before them for the second time that day; she placed two plates against the empty table; popping her gum harshly before glancing at the annoyed dark skin man sitting in the booth.
When she had, she smirked to herself; taking in his uniquely crafted features. Slyly she slid a folded napkin under his plate, allowing its edge to peak subtly from the dish's corner; giving Diah a clear view of the black numbers she had neatly jotted down. The man scoffed, crumpling the paper between a single palm before chucking it to the floor.
The moment it had landed near the woman's feet; she gasped lightly; stomping to the back; embarrassed that she had been blatantly turned down.
Lately, Zebediah had been in the worst mood, anything eliciting a reaction from him. He glanced down at the steaming food before him; placing two fingers near his bottom row of teeth to remove his shining grills.
