The first day was a lot for Adeline, what with her being unable to stop the constant sickness, her body not allowing her to have any form of appetite, and the exhaustion that came with both. That, coupled in with one boy being caught staring at her chest, and another one seeing her completely naked.

It truly was a difficult day.

That is why she could not wait to go to bed. To finally relax, and get the proper rest her body and mind were craving. But boy, was she wrong.

Throughout the night, Adeline had tried everything she could think of to silence Nick, and his snores. From laying with her pillow over her head, to stuffing small rolls of toilet paper in her ears. She had even attempted to turn Nick over, in the hopes that him laying in a different position would somehow squash the unbearable snorting and heavy breathing that was vibrating from the back of his throat. However, every single thing she tried failed miserably.

That's why Adeline finds herself out in the Glade, instead of being tucked up in the comfort of her bed. The morning air is light, the breeze not strong enough to tangle her hair, but enough for her to feel it gently flow against her cheeks.

Since the young girl has awoken, she has completed almost three laps of the Glade. Making sure that the heel of her foot touches the tips of the toes on the other foot as she counts every step she takes. Her fingertips carry small scratches from trailing them along every groove and over every piece of ivy that is laced down the wall.

Adeline arrives, for the third time, past the entrance to the East door, next to the gardens. Just as she is about to walk behind them, the girl notices specs of white and yellow in her peripheral. Turning her head to the area, she finds a small patch of daisies amongst the grass.

A small smile creeps on the young girls face as she views the sight. She immediately throws her body onto the soft grass, her inner child unleashed as she begins tearing the daisies from the grass and linking them together.

Her mind quickly becomes focused on her task, her brows furrowed and her tongue sticking out slightly as she tries to concentrate. She does not see the rest of the Gladers gradually getting up and heading for breakfast. None of them take any notice of her either, all of them far too hungry to give any thought to the young girl laying on her stomach in the grass.

Nick is the last to enter the kitchen, a slight feeling of panic flowing through his body after finding the girl already gone when he woke up. He quickly scans the area, searching for Adeline - but she is nowhere to be seen. ''Alby!'' he calls out, waiting for the boy to turn his way before continuing, ''have you seen Addy?''

''No, why?'' Alby questions, twisting his body around in his chair and resting his elbow on the back of it.

''Can't find her'' Nick responds, turning his head in every direction to see if he can catch even just a glimpse of her.

Alby releases a small breath of annoyance, tilting his head to the left while his face is deadpanned. ''Did you actually look for her, or did you just come in here?''

The leader stops in his tracks, twisting around to face his second-in-command once more. ''I, uh, just came here.''

''Right'' Alby says, slapping his hands against his thighs and standing up. ''I'll go find her.'' He takes a few steps towards Frypan, who is still handing out plates. Grabbing one for Adeline before walking back to lift his own plate, he begins pacing out of the kitchen and towards the middle of the Glade.

He mutters silently to himself over the lack of attention from his leader. Of course, Nick does not need to know everyones whereabouts at all times, but one would think he would at least know where the newest one is. Especially considering the fact that she only slept half a metre away from him the night before.
