A/N This chapter is super short but I feel like I needed to add in the argument.

"Nick! I swear to shit, you better stop right now!"

"No, I don't think I'm gonna do that!" the boy calls back. He twists his head around for a brief moment, his eyes widening and his feet instantly moving faster as he sees the girl advancing on him.

Adeline groans in frustration. Leaning down to the ground, she quickly picks up a small pebble, not halting her steps as she does so.

The girl stands back up straight, her footsteps getting bigger until she ends up skipping. Drawing her right hand over her head, Adeline flings it back forward, the stone hurdling through the air and smacking directly against Nick's back.

The leader stumbles forward slightly, bringing his hand up to the spot the stone connected with and rubbing his palm against it.

"What was that for?!" he questions, spinning his body around just as Adeline reaches him.

Not expecting the boy to stop so abruptly causes Adeline to charge right into him, her body automatically flinching backwards when they collide. Nick's quick instincts mean that the girl is caught well before she can fall over completely.

But at this particular moment, she is too furious to care about the way his arms shoot out to grab her waist to stop her from tumbling over, or how his expression quickly changes from anger to panic as he sees her safety threatened by a harsh drop to the ground.

In one swift motion, Adeline pulls her arms together in front of her chest and tears them apart, instantly throwing the leaders hands away from her.

"You're a dick!" the girl spits, staring up at the boy. The only distance between them being created by their difference in height.

However, her facial expression tells Nick that she is not as livid as he once thought.

Although her nostrils are flared and her face is beginning to turn a faint shade of red, the leader can see that her eyes hold nothing but sheer disappointment.

Nick takes a few steps back to create some space between them, and to prevent Adeline from having to crain her neck so much to look at him. "What did I do?" he questions, although he is already fully aware of what the answer will be.

"What did you do? What did you do?!" the girl scoffs, her voice getting slightly louder and more high pitched with every word she says. "You lied!"

Adeline begins pacing back and forth in front of the boy, various words - along with a colourful vocabulary of curses - plummet from her mouth.

But Nick hears none of it.

Instead, he simply watches her, his eyes following her every movement, his head having to turn slightly everytime she walks by him.

Even though the boy can hear what she is saying, every word appears to simply drift into one hear and float out of the other.

Adeline pauses for a moment, casting a quick glance over to Nick and immediately noticing his lack of interest in what she has to say.

Bending down to the ground, she rips a handful of grass from the dirt and flings it at his chest. "Are you even listening to me?!"

"Wha- yes!" the boy spits out. His eyes begin to zone back it, and his brain only now just realising that he was not even looking at her while she was speaking.

The girl let's out a small huff, her shoulders sagging and her head rolling down for a moment before she looks back up to Nick. "Nick" she starts, her voice mellow, "I know you don't like him but-"
