Adeline shakily rises to her feet, her legs wobbling beneath her as she struggles to stand up from her bed.

Her entire body aches from the constant workouts she has been taking part in with the other runners. That, and the solid two weeks she has been in the maze.

Minho had originally promised that, once they had began running, the training sessions would stop. But the small excitement each of the runners shares was short-lived as the keeper quickly changed his mind. Deciding that, in order to do their best in the maze, they had to continue to workout.

Of course, Adeline understands why Minho came to that conclusion. After the day he and Kenny ran into the Griever, the keeper has been extremely adamant of the fact that they can never be too prepared.

But God, do her legs need a break.

That is one of the reasons why Adeline is looking forward to this day. Her first day in the kitchen with Frypan and George.

It was supposed to be her day off, but after almost an hour of talking it out with Nick, he had finally given in to her demands and allowed her to work.

Not that he had much of an option, obviously. The girl would have worked if she wanted to anyway.

Adeline tumbles down the small steps just outside the Homestead, her body screaming at her to slow down - but she does not listen. Instead, she moves quicker, trying to loosen up her stiff joints.

Upon exiting their shabby looking home, she notices that the doors have opened for the day, and that everybody else is already awake. Adeline panics slightly at the sight, only now just realising how long she slept.

She briskly makes her way towards the kitchen, ignoring how tired her muscles are, and directly over to Frypan who is serving up the last of the breakfast.

''I'm so sorry, Fry'' she spits out, ''I-I didn't realise what time it was and nobody woke me up and the sleeping bag was so comfy and-''

Her rambling instantly comes to a halt as Frypan raises one hand up. ''Don't worry'' he says with a smile, ''Nick told me you weren't starting until later on. I don't need you until lunch.''

''Oh, thank god!'' she says, throwing her head back and releasing a harsh breath. Bringing her head back down, she looks to the cook. ''Is there any food left?'' she asks him timidly, knowing already that he does not like people being late for meals.

''Nick already has your plate'' he replies, waving her off passively as he continues on with the tidy up.

She quickly thanks him before turning on her heel, wobbling away from him and towards Nick, who is sitting on the grass just outside the kitchen with Alby, Newt and George.

Upon reaching the group, she grips onto Nick and George's shoulders, putting some of her weight onto them as she slowly lowers herself down onto the grass. George does not bat an eyelid as she uses him to help her sit, whereas Nick instantly has his hands out. He grabs onto her forearms, chuckling at the girl as she groans in pain.

''Still sore?'' Nick asks as he hands her a plate.

''Uh-huh'' she replies, "did you really have to sit on the grass?"

"It's a nice day" the leader comments, shrugging his shoulders and turning his head to face the group.

Tilting her head towards Newt, Adeline attempts to ask him how he is feeling, but it comes out muffled due the copious amounts of food she has just shovelled into her mouth.

Newt furrows his brows, pushing his head forward as he tries to decipher what she is trying to say.

''She's asking if you're glad you're off today'' Alby chimes in, not peeling his eyes away from his plate.
