Gally hates the Greenies. The crying, the screaming and shouting. The barrage of questions that tumble from their lips as their new way of living is described to them.

For the first few days after their arrival, the boy wishes he could simply turn to dust. Vanish, and not resurface until they are over the initial fear and shock. When they have finally come to terms with where they are and that this is there new home.

He can empathise with them, of course, for he went through the exact same thing.

But the difference between them and him lies in the fact that, when he woke up, he had nobody.

None of the original Gladers had anyone, and that is what annoys him most. Why should they be mollycoddled, while he had to fend for himself?

That is why, when Nick approached him and requested that he show Adeline around, Gally all but laughed in the leaders face.

The boy had seen that the new Greenie was a girl, as he was the one who had helped haul her out of the box.

Gally would be lying if he were to say that this small detail did not peak his interest.

However, it certainly did not intrigue him enough to give up an entire afternoon to babysitting.

But he was given a choice. Look after her, or be part of the meeting in which they will discuss her. So regardless, his day was going to revolve around this greenie.

This girl.

Who, as Gally has discovered, is not like the other Greenies, by any means.

There have been no questions, no crying or screaming. Nothing.

Just simple conversations. Positive conversations. Gally has spoken about their time here, and Adeline has listened.

Which is exactly what he had hoped for, right?

Wrong.

As it turns out, the lack of a reaction to almost everything he has shown her does worry the boy.

He has kept an eye on her throughout the whole tour. Watching the way she looks around her new home, noting the look of indifference on her features as she takes in everything they have worked on. Everything they have built.

She just looks bored.

A Greenie has never looked bored. Not on their first few days.

"It's hard to believe you've only been here four months" Adeline pipes up, yanking the boy from his daydream and back into reality again.

"We've not got much" Gally responds, looking out towards the Glade, "but we will."

"Yea" Adeline mutters. She twists her head to the side, her eyes trailing over every structure. "Be good if you had a tower or something, you know? Somewhere where you could go up and see the full Glade."

A thought pops into Gally's head as he hears her words. Finally, he has found something that may make the girls eyes sparkle with something other than sheer disinterest.

With a small smile on his face, he lightly grabs onto Adelines wrist and begins to walk into the forest.

But the girl does not move.

Instead, she buries her heels into the grass, causing the boy to stumble slightly.

He turns back to face her, both his eyebrows raised, with his left hand hanging down by his waist and his right hand stretched out, still holding the girls wrist. "What's wrong?"
