"You know, this would be a lot faster if I turned..." Harry suggested.
We'd been walking for a good 20 minutes making awkward conversation. It was harder to have a fresh start with the guy who almost killed me than I thought it would be. It was even weirder considering I didn't particular like him to begin with. I mean, he was incredibly hot, sure. But his cockiness, not so much. The awkwardness wasn't even because of me, he was the one who kept acting so cautious around me like I might've despised him if he breathed on me. His cockiness was still there, but he was walking a good five feet away from me. Maybe it wasn't because of me, maybe it was for Jo's sake.
I shuddered at his request for the second time. I thought of how large his claws were. I thought about his sharp, pointed teeth and the foam escaping the sides of his mouth. Then I remembered that we were trying to start fresh.
"Um," I tried not to sound hesitant, but failed," yeah, sure. If you want to."
For some reason, it made Harry laugh.
"I was joking." He said, raising his eyebrows.
"Oh." I laughed weirdly. "I thought it'd be kind of cool actually. I mean, Laurence only gave us three hours."
Harry smirked at the compliment. "Another time. It's only about ten more minutes or so."
"You know, when you said you'd show me around, I didn't think it would involve leaving town." I looked around. The scenery hasn't changed, though the trees were a little taller and closer together. It made the air cooler than usual.
He shrugged. "Don't get me wrong, Moongrove is-"
"Wait, is it Moongrove or Lupus Falls?"
"Lupus Falls is the name on the map. The name known to humans." Harry explained. "Moongrove is the name of our actual town which is hidden within Lupus Falls, hidden from the human eye. That is, unless we want it to be found."
I remembered pulling up to the gate with Sam and Dean. Thinking about them made me think about my parents, and I felt a twinge in my heart. I pushed the thoughts aside.
"Moongrove is a great place." Harry continued. "I was never able to call anywhere a home until I came here. But going outside of it is even more exciting. I can find places that others can't. I'm able to run free and make vast decisions, I don't have to worry about the town rules. I can hunt for as long as I want without any limitations."
I was very intrigued until I heard the last sentence. My stomach dropped and I started to feel sick. I tried to imagine that by hunting he only meant wild game, but after I saw that human heart on his tray, it was impossible. I changed the subject as quickly as I could.
"Town rules?" I asked. "Are they strict?"
"I'm surprised Anastasia hasn't told you about them yet."
I shrugged. "She runs a lot of errands."
Suddenly Harry's expression turned grim. "I'm sure she does."
Before I could ask him what he meant, he answered my question.
"Well, you already heard the three hour rule. That one isn't bad though. We can leave any time we want, but we can only leave once a day for three hours at the most."
I nodded. "Okay, noted."
"No killing within the town, but self-defense doesn't count." Harry continued, as if it was an obvious thing. "Every resident is required to go to school like any normal being would. If you decide to move out of Moongrove you are not allowed to come back. No humans allowed within the grounds, obviously. Oh, and on a full moon, no rules apply."
