Lunch, or dinner I guess you could say, was incredible. Rebecca had baked a homemade lasagna and cheesy mashed potatoes with asparagus. Anastasia was constantly grilling me with questions, trying to get to know every little part of me. Jo, obviously, could care less. She must have rolled her eyes about a million times through the dinner. As soon as she was done eating, she excused herself from the table to get ready because she was hanging out with some friends.
"Maybe Annabeth can go with you." Rebecca suggested. Jo gave her mother a death stare.
"It's fine." I said right away. "I don't really think I'm mentally prepared for anything else today."
Jo shot a sly smile at her mother and shrugged her shoulders before running up to her room.
"You'll have to excuse Jo." Rebecca said. "She can be very stubborn."
"I understand." I smiled.
"Well, I can take you on a tour of the house." Anastasia offered.
"That seems like it would take a long time." I joked.
Rebecca and Anastasia laughed.
"It'll be fun for you, trust me." Anastasia promised.
I smiled and went to go rinse off my dishes but Rebecca stopped me and took them from me.
"I'll get them." She offered. "You two go explore."
"Thank you." I said, she nodded.
"Mother, do you think we could go for a walk around town after?" Anastasia asked as she led me to the first room.
"Only if she wants to." Rebecca warned.
"Okay!"
Rebecca's house was actually much bigger than I thought. It consisted of 11 bedrooms, 15 bathrooms, 6 studies, 2 dining rooms, 1 kitchen, 1 family room, 1 enormous library, and a game room that was full of games I knew of and didn't know of. I had already seen the garden but Anastasia took me into deeper depth about some of the plants. She pointed out that some of the plants were used to heal sicknesses or wounds, but if too much was used it could be lethal. She told me specifically which ones to steer clear of and which ones that were okay to touch. Though I wasn't quite sure how I was going to remember all of that.
Anastasia was right about the library. It was completely filled with all sorts of fiction and nonfiction. It actually reminded me of a smaller version of the library in Beauty and the Beast. To me, it was like an early Christmas present. I absolutely loved to read, and Anastasia was the same way. It turned out the two of us actually had a lot in common.
When we were finished touring the house, Anastasia made a suggestion.
"Why don't we go on over to your new school?" She suggested. "Barely anyone is there right now. We could pick up your schedule. We picked some classes that you might like, but if you want to switch out of something you can."
"Do you go to the same school I'm going to?" I asked.
She nodded," Of course! I'll be there whenever you need me."
"That's actually a little more comforting." I admitted. "At least I'll have one friend."
Anastasia smiled," You'll make friends, you'll see. The students aren't that bad. Once we get the human smell off of you, they'll just think you're one of them."
"Does the smell bother you?" I asked her curiously.
She laughed," No. Witches don't really smell human, we sense human. We're just like humans really, except we have special powers and we're capable of using all six senses at once. But my family isn't the dark kind, not even Jo. We don't believe in killing unless we're threatened. Your uncle was the one who really confirmed that humans aren't always the enemy."
