"Does anyone else feel an uplifting energy in the air?" Liam asked, stretching out in the hammock on our pouch.
"I think the flowers smell a little more pleasant today than usual." Niall remarked, his voice high as if in a trance. He twirled his fingers through the air playfully.
I flipped a page in the novel I was reading. "Oh, stop it you two."
"Come on, admit it." Liam said, sitting up. "You're a lot more relaxed without Jo around."
I smirked. "Maybe a little."
It had been the third day of a Jo-free house. Wendy had convinced her that moving in with her was the best solution. She'd have her own space, privacy, and time away from me. Of course, there was an argument about how she shouldn't have to leave her own house, but she warmed up to it eventually. I hadn't seen her since our episode in the lunchroom.
"Have you talked to Harry?" Niall asked.
"No." I said, and it was the truth. "I told him we had to stop being friends."
He rolled his eyes. "Lame."
"It was the right thing to do." Liam reasoned.
"Thank you." I said to him appreciatively.
"Whatever." Niall grunted. "So, are you and Dylan a thing now? I overhear him talking about you at school to his buddies all the time."
"Not that it's any of your business, but we went on one date a few nights ago and it was lovely." I said, dramatically flipping my hair over my shoulder.
"Did you kiss?" Anastasia said through the open window. I jumped at the sound of her voice. She laughed.
"What does that matter?"
"Well," She says, climbing out onto the porch, "if you kissed then you would definitely be considered a thing."
She said the last word with a little disgust in her voice as she threw a glance at Niall.
"What?" He mouthed at her.
I rolled my eyes. "No. We didn't kiss."
"He didn't even try to kiss you?" Niall scoffed. "What a dork."
"He probably didn't want her to feel pressured." Anastasia pointed out.
Liam nodded. "Maybe he was just being a gentlemen. Not everyone is a scoundrel like you, Ni."
"Oh, that's right." Niall said with a dramatic sigh. "We have Sensitive Sandy here with us today. Look Liam, just because you haven't been laid in a while doesn't mean the rest of us have to suffer."
"Niall!" Anastasia and I scolded in unison.
Liam was unphased, stretching back out into the hammock.
"Pretty sure you're in the same boat as me, bud." He remarked.
Niall started to retaliate but I cut him off.
"What do you guys want to do today?" I asked.
"Well, seeing as though you don't have homework to worry about, how about helping me with mine?" Niall suggested.
I feigned to think about it for a long time. "No thanks. I've got a book to read."
"I know what we can do!" Anastasia exclaimed a little too excitedly.
The three of us looked at her in amusement.
"Well," She said, "the All Hallow's Eve dance in on Saturday. That's tomorrow, for those of you who've forgotten. The committee is meeting soon to help with the finishing touches. Why don't you all come with? Annabeth, you can even invite Dylan if you want."
