I went upstairs and changed into a gray t-shirt and white athletic shorts. I grimaced at the nasty scar that temporarily plastered my stomach. I was so thankful for Brianna’s skills. At least the scar wouldn’t be there long.

I laid out Jade’s dress on my dresser, I would give it back to her tomorrow and thanked her again in my mind. When I came back downstairs after, Anastasia was hurriedly talking to Rebecca.

Rebecca, being the calm person that she was, didn’t freak out when she found out what had happened to me at school. I actually hadn’t planned on telling her, but Anastasia blurted it out right away. I guess she would have figured it out anyway, considering the school knew in seconds, why not the entire town?

“I’m just glad you’re okay, sweetie.” She said, pulling me in for a hug. “I could feel something bad was going to happen but I wasn’t sure what. I’m so sorry.”

When she released me, I asked her,” Is that a Witch thing? Feeling something bad is going to happen?”

Anastasia answered for her with a giggle. “It depends on the Witch, but we all have certain gifts that the other may not have. For instance, we all sense when good and bad things are going to happen, but she,” she pointed to Rebecca,” has many gifts but her strongest is reading people.”

“Like minds?”

Rebecca laughed,” No, though that would be very helpful though. It’s more personality-wise. I normally can tell if someone is good at heart or otherwise.”

I nodded,” That’s pretty awesome.”

She laughed again,” Thank you, Annabeth.”

“So what’s your special gift?” I asked Anastasia. That made her smile.

“Potions.” She answered smugly.

“We all make them, of course.” Rebecca assured me. “But Anastasia has an incredible talent for it.”

“Cool.” I smiled. “What about Jo?”

“Detecting rats who talk about me when I’m not around.” A voice said behind me.

I turned around to see Jo, Harry stood somewhat behind her. He looked embarrassed. Well, I would’ve been too if I was standing in the house of the person I sliced open.

“Jo.” I greeted. “Always a pleasure.”

Anastasia held back a laugh. “Jo is the best with spells. None of us know why, it has just always come naturally to her.”

“Can you two leave?” She looked at me and Anastasia. It was more of a demand rather than a suggestion. “Harry and I are doing our homework in the kitchen.”

I was about to nod when Anastasia threw down her bag on the kitchen counter and said,” I don’t think so.”

I raised an eyebrow at her and Harry awkwardly scratched the back of his neck. Jo’s face was typical but intimidating. If looks could kill, Anastasia would’ve dropped dead.

“Leave.” Jo spat.

“No.” Anastasia retaliated.

“We could go somewhere else.” Harry and I said at the same time. We both looked at each other and smiled shyly.

“Shut up, Harry.” Jo rolled her eyes.

“Jo, Anastasia,” Rebecca intervened, her voice stern,” may I see you outside for a moment?”

“Mother-“ Jo started, but Rebecca cut her off.

“Now.”

Jo and Anastasia glared at each other as they pushed past me and Harry and stormed outside. Rebecca began to follow but then she turned back to me.
