Chapter 4 🌙⭐️

The next morning was a complete blur. We woke up at 6 a.m. and quickly got out of our motel and to the car with our belongings. We stayed at the same motel Bobby had been staying at for the past week. We took off with Bobby following closely in a pick-up truck behind us.

I leaned my head against the cold car window and rubbed my eyes.

"Remind me why we're going to Pennsylvania again."

"To keep you safe." Dean remarked.

"I don't understand why we can't just go look for my parents. You two claim to love my mom but you don't really seem like you give a rat's ass about either one of them." I spat, crossing my arms over my chest.

The car quickly pulled over to the side and Dean slammed on the breaks, causing Bobby to lay on his horn before pulling over as well.

"Dude!" Sam exclaimed.

Dean turned around in his seat to look at me. His eyes were murderous.

"Okay, you listen to me right now." He demanded. "Don't you EVER say that we don't care about your mother. Your parents are good people and we will do everything in our power to find them. But the very best thing to do right now is to get their daughter to a safe place before going out and finding them-"

"Dean-" Sam started.

"Shut up, Sam." Dean remarked before turning back to me. "You really think if we had any leads we would just be standing around with our thumbs up our asses? We're working on it Annabeth. She's not just your mother, she's our sister too. I'll be damned to hell if I ever let anything happen to her. But right now, the main priority is you. Is that understood?"

His eyes bored into mine and I nodded.

"Okay then." Dean said before starting the car up again and driving off.

After a few very long and silent minutes, I decided to talk again.

"What's in Pennsylvania?" I asked quietly.

"Friends." Sam assured me. "You'll be staying with them for awhile."

"While you look for my parents." I understood.

Sam nodded," We will find them Annabeth. But it's going to take some time."

I nodded. I didn't like it, but I understood.

"There's one more thing." Sam added. He looked at Dean who gave him a nod.

"Annabeth, you're going to have to be very strong for what we are going to ask you to do."

"If it'll help get my parents back, I'll do it." I immediately replied.

"Listen," Sam said," it's going to be very dangerous and you're going to have to work really hard-"

"I don't care." I cut him off. "Tell me what I have to do."

There was a pause.

"Anna," Sam started," these people you're staying with, they're not exactly..human."

I blinked," Come again?"

"They're..umm.."

"Witches." Dean finished.

"At least they aren't Wendigos." I muttered.

"I still don't like the idea." Dean grumbled.

"They've changed, Dean." Sam said to him.

Dean rolled his eyes," A monster is a monster. A witch is a witch."

"No offense," I said," but if you don't trust them, why are you sending me to live with them?"

"Because it's the only option." Dean replied.

"Why can't I just go with you?"

"I told you," Dean said," it's dangerous. Believe me, you living in a house of witches is a hell of a lot safer than tagging along with us."

"How do I know I can trust them?" I asked.

Dean scoffed," You don't."

"I've known them for years." Sam explained. "They stopped using black magic a long time ago. They're good people."

"Whatever." Dean said. "The point is, Sam trusts them and we have no other choice."

"It'll be the last place they'll think you're hiding." He added.

"I also think it would be even more effective if-" Sam started.

"Don't start, Sammy." Dean warned.

"What?" Sam asked. "They would protect her; and maybe she can find some things out that we can't."

"Forget it." Dean spat.

"What?" I asked.

There was silence in the car.

"Tell me!" I demanded.

Dean rolled his eyes," Sam has this big master plan to gather info by sending you to a school infested with almost every type of monster you can imagine. He seems to think you'll be safer."

"She WILL be safer." Sam insisted.

"We'd be sending her to her death!" Dean shouted. "They'd smell her from a mile away!"

"I talked to Rebecca," Sam explained," they can give her something to help her fit in. She wouldn't have a 'smell'."

"It's ridiculous is what it is." Dean said with a shake of his head.

Sam turned to look at me," I know it's a lot to ask. But it really could help."

"How?" I asked.

"No," Dean said," she doesn't get to decide. She's still a minor, and since her parents aren't around, she's my responsibility because you clearly don't know what's best for her."

"Tell me, Sam." I said. Dean groaned in anger as Sam continued to explain it to me.

"We could possibly figure out who has you're parents. It really is a long shot though. But for the most part, you would be completely safe. These things would never think that you would be attending a high school with things that would normally kill a human."

I gulped," So, I could die if I go here?"

"Yes!" Dean spat.

"I promise you, you would be safe. The people you are staying with would protect you." Sam said.

"Okay first of all," Dean argued," they aren't PEOPLE. They're monsters just like anything else."

"Why would they help you?" I asked Sam.

"They wouldn't." Dean said.

"I've saved their lives more than once. They owe me." Sam explained.

"I want to do it." I stated.

"Absolutely not." Dean said.

"If it could even slightly help mom and dad, I'm willing to do it." I insisted.

"You don't know what you're saying." Dean said, shaking his head.

"It would be dangerous." Sam warned. "You'd have to really play the part. But you'd have that all explained to you once you get there and you'd get a lot of help from the witches."

"How many am I staying with?" I asked.

"4. Two sisters, Rebecca and Juliet, and Rebecca's two daughters, Josephine and Anastasia."

"It's bad enough that I'm letting her stay with witches," Dean interjected," there's no way in hell she is going to that school too."

"But, Dean-" I started.

"End of discussion." He cut me off.

The next few hours were full of silent tension inside the vehicle.
