The pain was something I had never felt before. It was a constant burning sensation that I wasn't able to cease. A scream was filling my ears. It took me a while to realize that it was coming from my own mouth.
Everything seemed to move in slow motion. I drew my hand away from my stomach to reveal it covered in deep red blood. Harry's figure was returned to normal, and his eyes were wide in shock. He wasn't even able to comprehend what he had done. I reached out my arm as I fell. I wasn't sure if I was reaching out to Harry, or just to anyone that would help me.
I was caught in someone's arms. I looked up to see it was Brianna, her face contorted with worry. I could hear someone shouting something. It sounded like Mr. Longbell, but his voice seemed so far away. My vision started to blur, and my eyes started to shut.
All of the sudden Zayn was on the other side of me. He started shouting at Brianna. Suddenly I could hear again.
"Can't you do something?!" Zayn shouted at her. I saw him look at my wound and grimace.
He saw that my hand was grasping for something. He put his hand in mine and I squeezed hard. I looked at him with pleading eyes, my breathing heavy.
A crowd was gathered around us. I could see Louis laughing hysterically but, at that moment, I couldn't even think about thinking about how cruel he was. At that moment, I saw Harry shove past everyone. His eyes were wide and apologetic. His expression turned to anger when he saw Zayn.
"I should kill you right now." He growled at him.
Zayn looked up at him with annoyance. "Hey, I'm not the one who slashed her."
"You jumped out of the way! She was right there!"
"I didn't know!"
"Shut up!" Brianna shouted. It was the loudest I had heard her speak the whole class period. By the look that Harry and Zayn gave her told me that she didn't raise her voice too often.
"It's going to be okay." She told me. I forced myself to nod.
Brianna let Zayn hold me in his arms as she laid her hands on my stomach. At first, the pain was even worse. But then I felt a warm sensation spread across my entire body. My skin seemed to glow, or maybe I was just hallucinating. As soon as the pain came, it was gone.
I let out a loud breath and quickly sat up straight. Brianna extracted her hands and put one on my back.
I was panting heavily. I looked down at my dress, now stained with blood and practically mutilated. But, instead of finding my ripped open flesh, four large scars were etched across my stomach.
"The scarring will go away completely in about a week or so." Brianna assured me, rubbing my back. But I honestly didn't care about the scarring.
"You saved my life." I said, still in shock.
Brianna smiled. "I'm a Chaphling. We have the power of healing."
I would've smiled if it wasn't for the reoccurring image in my head of my insides being ripped open. I gingerly ran my fingers over the scars.
"Good heavens, child!" Mr. Longbell exclaimed. "Are you alright?"
I nodded slowly. "Yeah. Yes, I think so."
"I'm so sorry, Annabeth. I had no idea." Harry said worriedly.
I looked up at him. I wanted to hate him so badly. So why didn't I? He almost killed me, and I didn't blame him. What was wrong with me?
An expectant look crossed my face. "Well, are you going to help me up or what?"
He quickly reached his hand out to me and helped me to my feet.
