Jasper loved his job, he got to travel to all kinds of strange worlds and help all kinds of people. Jasper loved his job, but his coworkers not so much, they had such rudimentary ways of handling things. Jasper loved to keep himself entertained, each case he'd find a new way to solve it, even if it wasn't the most efficient way of handling things Jasper always tried to enjoy himself. That's why he was not entirely upset with the young god sitting across the table from him. Jasper had knocked and knocked on the door for a solid ten minutes before the door was opened, but not by Haku but by the young girl he had seemingly gotten mixed up in this mess. After a silence that lasted almost as long as Jasper was left outside he spoke " Look Haku, I've known you for a long time now, we've even taken countless jobs together. And I know I may have been a bad influence, but you've really messed up this time. I know you must have a good reason, so please tell me, why are you helping that world, we aren't supposed to interfere with blacklisted worlds, you could get in a lot of trouble." Haku looked genuinely confused, why would the world he's helping be blacklisted... then a thought came to him.
" It was Burnes, he was the one who told me that the chairman himself wanted me to handle this case. I thought it was a little weird, he doesn't usually assign me such difficult ones."
Jasper looked back a little confused " Burnes, why would he...? I don't get it, but I'd be careful if I were you, I think he's up to something. I'll make sure to report his actions to the chairman when I return. As for this case Haku, I'd recommend you drop it, that world is beyond help, that's why it was blacklisted." Kuragi's brain turned into overdrive, if Haku dropped the case, everyone on that world including its new inhabitant Bone would perish. But worse than that Kuragi would be stuck in between the world of the living and dead, Haku had promised to bring her back to life once that world was saved. She needed to speak, to convince Haku and Jasper that they should continue to save that world, but when she looked up at Haku, she saw a playful grin on his face.
Haku looked over to Jasper and replied " Thanks for the advice, but I'm going to continue with the task. What kind of a god would I be if I abandoned a world in need." Haku stood up and put one leg up on the table and raised his right arm to the sky in a heroic pose. Jasper did the same pose on the opposite side of the table.
" I understand Haku, you have your reasons, I will do my best to cover for you back at HQ, but first things first, you need to get that truck back before the chairman hears of it, the chairman will not tolerate letting a godly item like that get into the hands of humans."
Still standing partially on the table Haku smiled even bigger than before " Yup and that's our next goal, Operation: Get The Truck Back"
" Nice, and what's your guy's plan?"
Haku stared off into space for a bit before slowly sitting back down and bringing his hands together in front of him. Kuragi figured this is where she should step in; " I've been working on a plan for awhile now, but it's been hard. I need to use Haku's powers, but I'm not quite sure what he can do." Jasper looked at Haku and then at Kuragi, and then back at Haku and he burst out laughing.
" Haku, powers? Haku doesn't have any powers, he's a god in name, but that's about it."
Kuragi looked baffled " But the chalk teleportation, and the reincarnation?"
" Oh that? The chalk is a simple godly item, those of us who can't teleport on our own, like Haku here, have to carry it around. And as for the reincarnation... How are you doing that mate?"
Haku who was looking defeated after hearing all of these remarks about his powerlessness, decided that this was his chance to redeem himself. " That's simply due to my godly powers of reincarnation." Both Jasper and Kuragi who knew little of gods and powers stared at him with blank expressions. The looked back at each other.
" So as far as what Haku can do. He's got the teleportation chalk, but judging by how much he's been using it I doubt he has enough to just teleport the truck out of there. He is surprisingly good at disguises, it must be all the cosplaying he used to do, with a reference he can create an exact replica of any outfit."
Haku beamed " See I do have powers"
Kuragi ignored him, disguises helped, but they weren't exactly the god-like powers she was hoping for. Kuragi looked back to Jasper, " So what about you, can you help us get the truck back?" Jasper was excited to get any chance to brag and show off his powers, but before he could begin the heroic tales of his great and awesome powers his phone rang. Jasper looked down at his phone " Oh shoot, I need to answer this one." He stepped out of the room, but did not go far enough away, Kuragi and Haku still heard everything he said. " Yes yes...... Haku is ok...... return immediately? But I still have some business here.................. Understood I will be right there" he walked back into the room with Haku and Kuragi. " So uhhh, yea, good luck with your truck rescue and stuff I've got to go, here" he handed Kuragi a business card with his number on it. " If this idiot ever gives you trouble give me a call, no ones had more experience dealing with him than me." And with that Jasper phased through the floor very similar to Haku's chalk circles.
A smile spread across Kuragi's face " I think I've got a plan"
