Blegh, vision blurry, Kuragi blinked herself awake. Everything hurt, she had to fight in order to not lose consciousness again.
"She's coming back." It was some woman's voice she didn't recognize. "Get some water, and my operating equipment."
"Yes sir." This voice she did recognize, and as she started to get her vision back, she saw Jasper leave the room.
"Don't worry, you're in good hands now." The woman had turned back to Kuragi. She was young, she could've been the same age as Kuragi.
"Wher Hak...?" Kuragi tried to speak but was barely able to make any coherent words.
"He hasn't been here, I know that much. I think Jasper said he's been locked in his room, who knows what he's been up to in there."
"Mmf." Kuragi didn't know why, but she was a little sad Haku wasn't here to talk to her. "Who?"
"Oh, my name is jasmine, thanks to Jasper's help I became the best doctor here in the godly realm. Which in retrospect is not that big of a feat considering how few doctors they need here. When it comes to getting sick gods are a pretty hardy species."
Kuragi let out a chuckle. "Ou an say hat 'gain."
"Hmm, the speech impediment you have currently is weird. Not incurable by any means, but according to Jasper you were injured when you fell out of the truck. Along with the speech, some of your other injuries/symptoms are very unusual. Did anything happen before the accident?"
"I.... I don ememer."
"That's quite alright, your memory will come back with time."

A few days later, and no memories returned, and neither did Haku. According to Jasmine, Kuragi had made a complete recovery, but she didn't feel like it. Most of her pain had gone away, but she still had a terrible headache. Nevertheless, Jasmine shooed her out of the hospital room in order to make room for another patient. Outside the room Kuragi met Jasper.
"Yo, Kuragi, Haku has been waiting for you."
"Really now, how come he never visited, a week I spent in there, and he didn't stop by to say hi once."
"I know it doesn't make it better, but he's been busy. You should really go check out what he's been working on."
"We'll see."

Kuragi stumbled out of one of Jasper's portals, having somewhere important to be Jasper left, but not before sending Kuragi to the 64th floor where Haku was holed up in his room. The hallway here was a lot busier then before, maids and butlers carried stuff to and from Haku's room. Kuragi stopped one of them that was carrying some books.
"What's going on?" Kuragi inquired.
"Oh thank the heavens that you're here, Mister Haku won't leave his room, and he keeps making these odd requests." The maid was very visibly tired.
"Here give me those, go get some rest I'll handle him." Kuragi took the stack of books from her, the maid was confused, and seemed to lose purpose.
A few seconds later the maid spoke, "Thank you." And left for the staircase to this floor.
Looking through the books Kuragi got a bad feeling,
Military girls anime battle
War tales of a shota general
Reincarnated in another world where war is always raging but I have my wallet with my ID twenty bucks cash and a useless credit card and everyone I meet I defeat with a singular punch
The stack continued in the same manner, all military themed manga. Kuragi let out a sigh, she grabbed the door handle to Haku's room, she could hear his vigorous ranting from behind the door, and after a few seconds Kuragi found herself eavesdropping.
"No, no, no, that won't work. Where is the research material I requested."
"I'm sure she will be here with them any second now. Why don't we take a break until she gets here." Kuragi recognized the voice of James, Jasper's head butler
"No, that's not what she would do, if she was here she would find a way...."
Kuragi accidentally dropped a book at the door where she was eavesdropping.
"Oh good you're here Mavis, come in." Kuragi hesitated for a second. "Mavis?"
Impatient Haku opened the door, but immediately froze when he saw who it was.
"... H.. Hey." Somehow Kuragi found it hard to greet Haku, her eyes glazed over and all color slowly drained from her face. Slowly however Haku began to cheer up.
"You're back, come in, we have no time." No time? Haku ushered Kuragi in and she followed. "I'm so glad you're back, I was really worried you wouldn't be back before our big battle." Big battle? "Look, what do you think." A holographic table that was now in the middle of the room showed a map of some foreign location, and little pieces like chess positioned in strategic locations. A big castle-like building sat in the middle of the place, labeled "demon kings palace" it seemed to be the target of whatever battle was happening there, meanwhile opposite of it was a piece labeled "supreme ultimate commander" that looked strikingly like Kuragi. "What do you think, it's my battle plan for defeating the demon king." Haku looked expectedly at Kuragi. Demon king, battle, supreme ultimate commander..... The gears started to turn again in Kuragi's head, slowly light returned to her eyes.
"What day is it?" Kuragi asked. The deadline they had been given was the end of the month, last Kuragi remembered they had a week left, but that was before her visit to the hospital.
"The 28th." Haku responded. "It will be the 29th in five minutes however."
Kuragi watched the plan play out on the holo-table one more time. "This...." She watched the last part very closely, it was a plan very clearly made by Haku, and the source material he had used definitely shone through, but... "This is perfect, no this better, this is what we'll do, tomorrow."
"Later today you mean."
Kuragi looked at the clock. "Yes let us get ready." Kuragi stood up, but much to quickly, it was very visible to the others that she was exhausted.
"You two will sleep now, I'll handle the preparations."
James who Kuragi had forgotten was in the room produced two futons from the closet and spread them out for the pair, not arguing, the two climbed into bed as James left to make the preparations.
