Chapter 12

Three days of repairs is how long any normal mechanic god would take to repair his truck, Audrey was done in thirty minutes. Haku got up from his seat where he had watched the goddess at work, and Audrey walked over to him covered in grease and sweat. " The truck is good to go, I even added some of those new features you wanted." She wiped some grease off of her forehead. " So now, how about that date?"
Haku looked down at the ground, as much as he liked her as a friend, and as much as he owed her one. He still did not want to go on a date, he was a very busy god after all. " Well you see actually.... I kinda have someone waiting for me back on earth...."
Audreys face turned a deep red, she raised up her fist in anger. " This someone, it's another girl isn't it, you're cheating on me!" Haku had seen her this mad before, he turned around and begun running in the opposite direction, but to no avail, Audrey's gift of speed allowed her to catch him and pummel him repeatedly into the ground before Haku made it five steps.
"Wait, urrk. I, oww, I can explain, ouch, stop beating me."
Audrey who was now sitting on the bludgeoned Haku stopped. " Ok but your explanation better be good." Audrey lifted her legs and sat cross legged on Haku's stomach. " So let's hear it."
" Can you maybe get off of me first."
" Not til I hear your reason for cheating." Haku did his best to explain to her about Kuragi and how he had accidentally killed her, and was now kinda stuck with her. " And there is nothing going on between you two right." She raised one eyebrow and looked at Haku's battered face.
" Ya, there is nothing between us, she is just like a servant who helps with the work."
" In that case I suppose I can forgive you." She stood up still on Haku's stomach and looked down at herself. Haku's blood had mixed with the sweat and grease covering her. " Look what you did Haku I'm a mess now, now I have to take a bath." She hopped off of Haku's stomach and started walking off towards her mechanical hot spring she had built when she first moved out to this scrapyard. " Haku, care to join me, your pretty messy as well."
Haku raised his hand out of the crater Audrey had created. " You go on ahead, I need to catch my breath." And with that Audrey took off bounding towards her bath house with new found joy, albeit indirectly, Haku did say he would join her, she better get cleaned up.

It had been almost an hour now, Audrey was still all alone in the hot spring. She admits, she did beat him pretty good, but even Haku, weak as he was, should have been able to recover from that by now. So why wasn't he here yet. Audrey got up and wrapped her towel around her, that's it, she wasn't going to wait for him anymore, she was going right back there and dragging him here by force. She stormed out of the bath house still only wearing the towel. It didn't take her long to get back to the spot where she had beat Haku, but when she got there he was gone.
" Audrey, could you at least try to show some decency." A familiar voice called from behind her. She gasped and turned around quickly, clutching her towel tightly to her chest. But when she saw who it was her grip loosened.
" Oh it's just you Jasper." She turned back to the spot where Haku once was and resumed pondering his disappearance.
" That's no way to great an old friend who came to check up on you."
" Sorry Jasper, but I'm distracted at the moment, come back some other time." She continued looking around before it dawned on her, aside from Haku the truck was also missing.
" If you are looking for Haku he is no longer here, I did a look around when I first got here. The company sent me here after they detected a large magical reading, you weren't fooling around with that magic amplifier again were you?" Every one of Audrey's more complicated inventions ran on magic, some devices took more than others. And some of her devices operated differently based on the amount of magic the user had. For example her teleport is slow and barely manages to warp the truck when used by Audrey, meanwhile a stronger god like Jasper could probably warp an entire city block in a matter of seconds using her invention. On the other side of the spectrum, Haku had such little magic that he couldn't even operate her teleporter, so Audrey had been trying to work on some kind of magic amplifier for the poor god, but when she tested it out, it created a catastrophic amount of magic, and the big wing gods from the company personally came down and told her to stop research.
" No of course not, unlike you I listen to my superiors, I destroyed that thing long ago."  There was a loud chime from one of her gadgets, both her and Jasper walked over to it.
It spoke in a robotic voice to them. " Teleportation complete." Audrey poked at the screen a bit.
" It seems like someone used my teleporter, and they warped to this location." She pointed to a series of numbers instantly recognized by Jasper.
" This, this is the world Haku is working on saving, but how did he use your teleporter to get there, did someone help him, or maybe..." Jasper looked up at Audrey.
" Nah, there's no way that dolt got his own magic, especially not magic strong enough to alert the company, and make them send you here."
" Yeah you're right." They both returned to staring at the device, perplexed by what had happened.
