Chapter 18

Haku was running at full speed, well at least full speed wearing these clothes. Seriously how do female anime characters stand wearing outfits like this and fight evil. Anyways, he was running, but not towards the target, actually he was running from something. It looked in every way like a dog, but Haku knew deep down that dog was a demon. It had somehow managed to break out of his fencing, and was now dead set on chasing Haku to the end of the world.

Kuragi looked at her phone, Haku was still moving fast, he was also making frequent turns making it hard to predict where he would end up. She zoomed out of her map a bit to look at the whole neighborhood. She started to notice a pattern with Haku's movement, it was as if he were boomeranging back to the spot where he had first called her, the spot where Kuragi had overheard that girl talking. It didn't exactly look like that was the intention however, Haku's recent turns seemed completely random, maybe she was now aware of Haku tailing her and was trying to lose her. Whatever the case, Kuragi saw a route that should let her intercept Haku easily. She made a u-turn, it's a good thing this neighborhood was so empty at the moment, almost too good...

Briony crouched behind some bushes. About half an hour ago she had received a call from her friend Ana telling her that some mysterious, potentially crossdresser was after her. She found someone who fit the description running pointlessly through the streets presumably chasing her. Briony let out a sigh, she should confront this person, and set the situation straight. And that's how she got to where she is now, in the bushes following this mysterious person. You see when it comes to people especially men, Briony has extreme social anxiety. Ana had probably told her it was a crossdresser just to mess with her, but Briony couldn't be certain, and so she kept her distance and followed the mysterious stranger as he ran. Eventually the neighborhood stray dog joined in, he was a very nice dog and Briony would've loved to take him in and care for him, but her apartment was much to small... The dog made the stranger a lot easier to tail as he kept yelling and screaming at the poor dog who just wanted attention. She sighed, again, she'll just let this person be after all. She turned the other way, and to her surprise she heard a loud screech. She looked back behind her, and the stranger had stopped, so had the dog. They both were stopped staring at the truck that had just came to a stop right in front of them. This was weird, Briony let curiosity get the better of her. She crouched back into the bushes and continued to watch.

Kuragi was nearing in on Haku's location, in fact at this intersection ahead.... She made a hard left, almost toppling the truck. She then brought the truck to a stop directly on top of Haku's mark on her phone. Weird where was he, she opened her door to get a better look. THUD, the door hit something. Lying on the ground still in a state of shock from the near-death experience, Haku looked back up at Kuragi.
" Where is she?" Kuragi asked the dazed Haku as she hopped out of the truck.
" I uhm, I lost her...."
Kuragi spotted the dog sitting obediently next to Haku. " You were playing with this dog weren't you..." Haku remained silent and just watched as Kuragi bent over and pet the dog. She ran her hand down the dogs back, that's when she noticed. " This dog, he doesn't have a collar, where did you find him?"
" I don't know, he found me.." The dog turned to look at Haku and let out a happy bark, Haku jumped back instinctively.
" That's right, good boy." Kuragi continued petting the dog.
" Uhh, what about our target..?" Haku asked her in a sarcastic tone.
" Well it's not my fault you found such a cute dog. You need to stop goofing off so we can do these things."
" Well let me drive the truck then."
" No can do, we need someone on foot."

Meanwhile in the bushes, Briony was thinking that actually she'd like to leave, these two were searching for her, and they seemed a little on the crazy side.

" Anyways, we need to find her." Kuragi stood over Haku. Haku and the dog were both looking up at Kuragi who was busy thinking on their next move. The dog barked and took off running into the nearby bushes, a few seconds later there was a loud bloodcurdling scream and the dog returned with a pair of pants. It set them at Kuragi's feet stepped back sat down and looked up at her. Kuragi bent over and picked them up, she inspected them carefully before looking at Haku who was equally as confused. She held the pants up to the streetlight, she felt a slight tapping on her shoulder. The tapping quickly grew in intensity. Kuragi turned around too see a girl holding her shirt down over her lower half with one hand, and reaching for the pair of pants with the other.
" Uhh... can I umm... have those back...." the girl asked.
Kuragi grinned. " Your her aren't you.... The panty thief."
Briony remained silent, focused on the pair of pants. Kuragi noticed Haku staring. " You! Go walk the dog or something. I'll call you once I'm done here."
" But..." Kuragi gave him a stare that left no room for argument. " Alright then.." Haku got up and started walking away. " C'mon you mutt, we gots to go.." The dog got up and looked back and forth between Haku and Kuragi, and decided it wanted to chase Haku again. So it did.
" Alright then." Kuragi looked back at Briony. " We need to talk. Wanna go for a drive?" Kuragi motioned towards the truck pants still in hand.
