"Man it's been so long since I've been able to chill at a cafe like this, thanks for inviting me Vee." Audrey now free to roam the godly realm at her leisure found herself at an Internet cafe in said godly realm that was ran entirely by humans rescued by Jasper.
"Oh yea, it feels good to get out of the lab sometimes, and this atmosphere, humans are so bizarre, sometimes makes me wonder what life woulda been like." Vee or more formally known as Victoria was a friend Audrey had met about a year back. She was a human that was rescued from the human realm moments before a tragic accident. She was only five years old when the accident occurred, so she didn't really get a chance to experience the human world all that much. Instead she lived and grew up here in the godly realm, and through hard work, and a lot of studying, she actually became one of the top scientists here. She worked currently for the government of the godly realm, and currently Her major field of study was the unique energy fields released by gods.
"Do you regret coming here, to the godly realm I mean?"
"No, never. Places like this cafe might be nice, but I know I can contribute so much more to society with all the technology, and resources here then I ever would've down on that dirt ball. Anyways, you give that talisman to your friend yet?"
"No, I was kinda hoping to wait til he has more free time, you know, make it a special moment."
"Not to rain on your parade, but don't you think he could use the power from the talisman with what he's doing now."
"Nah, he would want to do this on his own, plus it would be so much nicer to surprise him with it when he's done."
"I suppose......" Bzzt Bzzt...... Bzzt Bzzt. "Shoot I should get that, even though it's probably just someone from the lab."
"Sure, I understand."
Vee got up and stepped outside, she picked up her phone from her purse. As she expected the call was from Burnes. Which meant that he most likely succeeded with his plan, which unfortunately meant that Vee would have to cut short this meeting with Audrey and return to the lab. She picked up the phone.
"Finally, Victoria, you need to answer your phone faster, I was worried he had already got to you." Burnes spoke, not with worry for her safety, but worried that she would fail.
"No, of course not, but I did inform you that I was meeting with Audrey today didn't I?"
"Yes, yes, but that can wait, it has to be now."
"Well I think we are done here, I'll proceed as planned. One last thing, Haku won't receive the package until afterwards."
"It's ok we'll find a workaround, and by we, I mean you. You got this."
"Yea, no problem, I gotta go now. Please... don't call again."
Vee hung up,she didn't like working with that man, but he did have just the thing she needed at the moment. So for now she'll help him, but later.....
Vee stepped back into the cafe, Audrey hadn't moved much, but all the pastries that were on the table had mysteriously vanished.
"I'm sorry Audrey, there's an emergency at the lab I gotta go."
"Oh no, what's going on?"
"One of the trainees spilled some chemicals that fumigated the whole room knocking unconscious two others besides himself." An obvious lie.
"That sounds bad.... Should I come help?"
"No, no, the leak is already contained and the people are ok for now, they just need the executive director there to facilitate everything."
"Oh ok, we'll you better go then. One more thing, thank you for the help with the talismans, I would have never been able to do it without you."
"No problem."David stood atop a ramp taller then any he had ridden down before. From where he was he couldn't see the rest of the course that the god had created for him, but he knew that this would be the biggest and most dangerous course he'd ever ridden on, and the smallest crowd he'd ever performed for, with only three people in the audience. He took a deep breath, then let himself drop. At the bottom of the ramp he could see his bike, and as he fell he positioned himself in a way that would be both comfortable for him and impressive for the audience. He glanced over at the audience, who sat mere feet from the track. Jasper, and one other god who David assumed to be Jasper's friend who wanted were both in the front row discussing something, while a third god sat behind them and leaned forward listening in on the conversation. None of them were even watching the show David was putting on. He'll show them, David twisted around like a cat midair, an landed on the bike on his hands. No sound came from the audience, no cheers no oohs, and no cheers. That dumb god called upon him to perform for him, and he won't even bother watching the show, we'll that didn't matter to David, no matter who was watching he was going to make this the best show of his career.
Kuragi waited at the end of the track in the truck, ready and poised in the perfect position. She could see Haku and Jasper over in the stands, and of course they weren't paying attention at all, so as always it was up to Kuragi to make sure things went as planned... "As always..." Kuragi thought back to her funeral, her fading memories were starting to bother her again. Who had she been before all this had started, what life was she trying to return to. It was clear her family had accepted her as gone from this world already, so why did she need to return. She didn't. So if she didn't need to return, did she want to return... Not particularly, now that Kuragi knows about the existence of gods and other worlds it would be hard to go back to a normal day to day life. Starting over with a blank slate might be nice, but that line of thinking could wait. Any second now David would pass by this section of the track, Jasper would temporarily revoke his power, and the truck would smash through David ending his career as a stuntman and beginning his career as a hero in another world.
