Chapter 14

Jasper stretched his arms out and yawned, the boss hadn't been happy with how distracted Jasper had been lately, and thus he was confined to the office handling paperwork. It had been a few days since he had visited Audrey, and he had gotten in contact with Haku since then in an attempt to figure out what had happened, but Haku only gave him evasive answers like he was trying to hide something. As far as Jasper knew the world Haku had been working on saving was no closer to being saved then when Haku had started. Jasper had been able to convince the company supervisor's that Haku was not involved with recent earth-related events, but eventually they'd grow suspicious. Jasper definitely didn't trust Burnes, the one who had assigned Haku to that world, he always seemed like he was up to something, but Jasper hadn't confronted him about any of this yet, he still wanted to figure out his motive in all of this.
Bzzt Bzzzt. How strange, his phone was ringing, he didn't recognize the number. Judging by the amount of numbers though it was probably someone from the human world.... Who did he know from the human world..... Ah that's it it must be that girl, the one Haku was with...... what was her name again..... The phone stopped ringing, and almost instantly started ringing again his cubicle neighbor who was a rather easily annoyed god knocked on the wall. " Turn that infernal device off when your at work."
" Pssh, you older gods are no fun you know that." Jasper responded. " Either way this is an important phone call so I'm going to go take it."
" I swear young gods like you never get any work done."
Leaving the coot behind and walking towards the bathroom Jasper continued to ponder her name as she called for the third time. Kura, Kura sounds right, but the last part of the name.... The phone started ringing for the fourth time, this time he answered it. " Hello there, Kurami what's going on?"
" First of all why don't you gods ever answer your phones, and second off the name is Kuragi."
" Sorry about that, unlike your dear friend Haku I'm a very busy god. Wait when you say you gods never answer your phones, you don't mean Haku do you? What's going on with him?"
" I don't know, he's been acting strange recently, like stranger than usual. He keeps disappearing for hours on end and not answering his phone. I've been trying to discuss our plans for rescuing that world, but he's been really out of it recently, and he keeps mumbling weird stuff about the dead and powers. You wouldn't happen to know what's up with him would you?"
" Hmm.... I have a hunch." He thought long and hard, someone had operated Audrey's machine and teleported Haku, and now Haku was mumbling about power's and the dead.... " It couldn't be... Kuraki, wait there for me I'll be there soon we have some things we need to discuss with Haku, I believe he might have godly powers after all." And considering how he has been acting and muttering about death this could be a bad situation.
" Ok Gotcha, by the way the names...." Jasper hung up the phone, it seemed like he was going to have to take the rest of the day off, hope the boss doesn't mind.

Haku sat with his legs in a criss-cross position, his eyes were closed and looking down at the ground. This hill he was sitting on, he had been coming here frequently these past few days, it was the perfect place to practice getting used to his powers. These powers, Haku has had them for a long time but well as far as god energy goes they were weak, he hadn't really told anyone about them though because of the fear and hatred they could inspire in others. Now though, now was different, the whole population of another world counted on him. He needed to master his powers not for himself, but for all those people who now counted on him, and most importantly for the girl he had dragged into this.
" Are those truly your real thoughts." A chilling voice called out to him. " Are you sure you don't want to master this power for selfish reasons. Imagine, you could be just like a villain from your favorite manga." Is that truly what Haku wanted, power for the sake of being cool. No, Haku has friends to protect, and a world of people who are counting on him. He had to gain this power for them, he can't give in to darkness. " Right, friends and all of that, where have they gotten you, look at you now, you are still a ridiculed god. With this power you can show them, make them feel the power of the god they made fun of."  But if I did that then I'd be just like they were all that time ago, just another bully. That wouldn't be very cool. " Hahaha, very well said young one." Haku opened his eyes and a weird ghostly apparition appeared not front of him.
Haku smiled. " So you think I'm ready."
The apparition smiled and took a seat next to him. " You've definitely grown a lot since you were a child. These past couple days have definitely shown that. I thought for sure you were going to give into temptation today, but right now more than ever you need to focus on learning about your powers slowly and methodically. One with your powers could easily end mortal life as we know it. It's good to see your hearts in the right place kid."
" So I'll come back around the same time tomorrow. I need to get back before Kuragi suspects I'm missing."
" So I'll see you in five minutes then?"
"Five minutes?"
" Yup, you've been here almost a full day you know, you gods always have the worst sense of time."
" Oh shoot really, I need to get back, She's going to kill me when I get back."
" Hahaha, a god in fear of the mortal he resurrected, you really have a special bond there kid."
" It's not like that." He started drawing a chalk square on the ground. " She annoys the heck out of me, and she is constantly hitting me and calling me dumb."
" And yet you go back to her, as I said kid, you really have a special bond there, don't lose it."
Haku grumbled. " Cya when I Cya pops."
