Once again the endless fields of her dream were spread out before her. She looked around and realized she was all alone here surrounded by endless greenery topped by a cloudless light blue sky. As if pulled by a string Kuragi felt there was somewhere here where she needed to be. Drawn in by curiosity she began walking towards the source of the sensation. She continued walking across the endless meadow for what seemed like hours. Feeling hungry, and exhausted from all the walking, Kuragi was thrilled when eventually a hill entered her view. Climbing the hill was a tiring task, but one that paid off, in the distance Kuragi could see a house. After a quick rest she made her way down the hill and began towards the house. When she got close enough Kuragi was able to see multiple houses behind the first one, spread out in a village-like pattern. A realization hit her when she reached the first house, most if not all of the houses were destroyed, as if something big had blasted through the town, leaving houses in pieces, or even torn straight in half. The houses that had survived had a different kind of damage, like some kind of beast had torn through the walls. The house closest to Kuragi had the least damage, but Kuragi still found a hole in the wall big enough for a human to enter. The interior was odd, everything had a medieval look to it, but some things were out of place. For one there were various snack wrappers, some she recognized, and some she didn't. There were also a number of books littered around the room, all with a seemingly similar themes. Probably the weirdest thing in the room however was a whiteboard in the middle with what appeared to be a very elaborate plan drawn on it. Upon closer inspection, Kuragi realized it was actually a collection of various superpowers diagrammed out. On the right side of the board was a cluster of about twenty powers, all circled with the word isekai written next to it.
Kuragi suddenly had the feeling of being watched, she could feel it somewhere behind her, a pair of eyes following her every movement. Kuragi turned her head just in time to see something duck up the stairs in the back of the room. Though her glance was brief she did see blue eyes, very familiar blue eyes. Kuragi made her way over to the stairs and peeked cautiously around the corner. There was just one door at the top of the stairs, leading presumably to wherever whoever lived here slept. Kuragi climbed the rest of the stairs and approached the door. She gave it a gentle but audible knock.
"Nobody's in here." A voice from behind the door called out.
"That's believable." Kuragi muttered to herself. "I'm coming in."
"Wait, no!"
Too late, Kuragi opened the door and let herself in. The room was small, it looked like some kind of living quarters. Two beds were stacked and pushed against the wall, and in their place was a futon containing a human.
"Hey there. What's going on, where are we?" Kuragi asked the futon.
"You're dead."
"I'm......." Kuragi recalled the alley, the truck, and more importantly the boy. "I died..." At least the boy had probably made it to safety.
"That's what I said..." The futon slid closer, and a head emerged from the top, it's blue eyes stared deep into Kuragi, as if they were searching for something. "Nothing visual.... So what kind of power did you get?"
"Excuse me?" It slowly dawned on Kuragi who she was looking at. "Wait, you're that boy, the truck.... It must've got you too...." Well there went that good thought. It looks like she died for no reason now.
"Unfortunately it didn't. Now come on show me your power."
"What are you talking about?"
"Your power, you know, you just got isekai'ed. You must have some kind of power now."
"No, no, I don't care about that, I'm normal. What do you mean the truck didn't hit you? If I'm dead and here, why are you here if you didn't die?"
"You pushed me out of the way for some reason, plus I don't think I can die like that. But really, no powers, nothing at all..... Maybe you'll awaken to it eventually."
"Can't die?"
"Oh right, I never mentioned..." The kid stood up letting the futon fall to the floor. "My name is Haku, I'm a god... mostly, but that doesn't matter. Right now I'm on a quest to defeat the demon lord of this land."
"... So. Let me get this straight. You want to defeat a demon lord. So you use human references to research a way to get stronger, and you come with the isekai. Am I right so far?"
"Yup." Haku nodded.
"So you decide to isekai yourself to get stronger..."
"Yea, but someone messed that up."
"So now I'm dead because you are an idiot?"
Haku crossed his arms and turned away from Kuragi. "I didn't ask you to save me."
"And I didn't ask to be hit by a truck. So how do I get back?"
"You're dead." Haku repeated.
"I know that, but if you really are a god, then you would see that how I died was dumb and send me back."
"....fine... But you have to help me now."
"Why should I do that?" Kuragi was starting to get fed up with the young self-proclaimed god. She now crossed her arms as well.
It was just then that the ground started to rumble, it started far away, but grew closer with time. After a few seconds distinct footsteps, massive footsteps could be made out.
"I'll give you two reasons why you should help me, number one. I don't know very many places in the human world to send us too at the moment, and in a few seconds those things are going to make us pancakes..." Haku was standing up now in a matter-of-factly type pose.
"What are those things!?" Kuragi held the closest heavy object to help her remain upright while the rumbling got even closer."
"I dunno, you saw the damage to the town, probably whatever did that. Anyways here take this." Haku tossed Kuragi a piece of chalk. "Think of any place, preferably in the human world, and probably somewhere you know pretty well, that helps. Then draw a circle on the ground."
"What....?"
"No time, just do it. Otherwise you're going to find out pretty soon what being double dead is like." Haku himself looked worried even though he had called himself a god.
Kuragi thought about the world she had just died in, somewhere she knew well.... There was only one spot that came to mind. She drew the circle. Then without hesitation Haku jumped into it, and just like jumping into a lake Haku fell into the floor. Kuragi on the other hand hesitated a bit, but followed inadvertently pretty quickly as a nearby building was leveled, causing her to stumble and slip into the circle after him.
